SRI improves noise predictability for tyre development
Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (SRI) has unveiled a new technique for predicting noise generated by the combined vibration of tyres and vehicle. By simulating how tyres roll when in motion and applying the lessons learned, SRI anticipates that both tyre and vehicle manufacturers will be able to reduce their products’ noise emissions.

ETRMA joins GDSO as associate member
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) has become an associate member of the Global Data Service Organisation (GDSO) for Tyres and Automotive Components, a non-profit organisation established in 2022 with the aim of standardising tyre-related data and facilitating access to and exchange of this data. “A new era” began at Mülheim/Essen Airport in Germany towards the end of last week with the launch of the new Goodyear Blimp/Zeppelin season from a new location. Russia’s Davydovo to produce crumb rubber at former Michelin site
Davydovo Tire Manufacturing Company LLC (Davydovo), the company formed after Michelin sold its Russian assets, is establishing a facility to process end-of-life tyres into crumb rubber. Prometeon-branded tyres launched in Egypt
Prometeon Tyre Group has unveiled its first Prometeon-branded tyres – the Serie 02 – at a special ceremony in the shadow of the Giza pyramids in Egypt. According to the company, an intensive R&D programme saw 6,000-plus tyres tested and more than 200 million kilometres covering all climatic and road conditions. The Prometeon-branded Serie 02 tyres will initially be produced at the company’s Alexandria plant and made available to markets in Egypt, other Middle East nations and Africa. The new tyres will be distributed in Europe, including the UK, by the end of 2024.
