USA: Preliminary anti-dumping duties on truck & bus tyres from Thailand
The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced preliminary findings in its investigation into whether truck and bus tyres imported from Thailand are selling in the United States at unfairly low prices. This comes after the USA saw a significant increase in these tyre imports, which more than doubled in quantity over two years, reaching a value of US$1.46 billion in 2022.

Financing round secures funds for Europe’s largest ELT pyrolysis plant
Circtec, a specialist in pyrolysis technology for sustainable end-of-life tyre recycling, has secured €150 million in a recent financing round. Novo Holdings and A.P. Moller Holding spearheaded this initiative with a €75 million equity investment. The financing also includes €22.5 million in grants awarded by the Government of the Netherlands.

Sailun, Tire Direct break ground on Mexico plant
Sailun Group and Tire Direct have broken ground on Aztema, their new joint venture factory in Mexico, with the partners laying a symbolic foundation stone at a ceremony on 15 May 2024. The first phase of construction at the Aztema plant will result in a facility with an initial capacity to produce 6 million car tyres a year; the partners plan to start production in March 2025.
