Liqui Moly continues to back winter sports
Winter time is Liqui Moly time, the German motor oil and additive specialist states, as the colder months allow many of its products to show their true potential. And so the company has made sure that its logo can be seen at winter sports events around the world. This will remain this way in the coming two seasons. Furthermore, the company is setting its sights on new sports and is investing several million euros. This significantly tops the previous investment for advertising in winter sports.

Blackcircles.com CEO Mike Welch left the employment of the company he founded in August 2017. Since then he has joined the board of SimpleTire.com, a fast-growing, US-based online tyre business. Meanwhile he also remains a consultant to blackcircles.com. Tyres & Accessories recently caught up with the well-known tyre entrepreneur to find out more about his latest venture. SimpleTire.com is the brainchild of brothers Andy and Josh Chalofsky. Andy has been in the tyre business since he was a teenager and started out in the warehouse of his family’s brick and mortar tyre business. From here he worked his way up and took over a subsidiary tyre business after graduating college. In 2012, he started building the foundations of what is now SimpleTire.

Leo W. Gerard, president of US-based trade union the United Steelworkers (USW), has sent a letter to South Korea’s President in which he raises concerns about Kumho Tire’s dealings with its workforce in the United States. The USW comments that this correspondence with Moon Jae-in addresses Kumho’s “union-busting actions towards its workers” and asks the South Korean government to intervene and “ensure that the workers are free to exercise their democratic rights.”

Henry McMaster, Governor of South Carolina, and Greg Foran, president and chief executive officer of Walmart US, toured the 1.7 million square foot facility in Richburg, South Carolina and celebrated its inauguration.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. is once again supplying specialist racing tyres to the Macau Grand Prix. The 64th Macau Grand Prix to be held in Macau (China) 16-19 November 2017. Yokohama Rubber supplied tyres for this event for 33 straight years until 2015. This year marks the 34th time the Company will support the Macau Grand Prix. Yokohama tyres will be the control tyre for the event’s main race, the FIA F3 World Cup, and for the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) race. The purpose of the visit was to find out the latest developments within the tyre recycling sector and to discuss means of optimising the recycling process. Corbetta met with Eldan’s managing director, Dr Toni Reftman, as well as product manager Bjorn Laursen and Eldan’s agent for Italy, Alessandro Silvestri of NME Srl.
