Days after announcing its sponsorship of Chennai-based club Chennaiyin FC, Apollo Tyres has shared details of a new agreement with Minerva Punjab FC (MPFC). Under a five-year contract, the tyre maker will act as title sponsor to the Mohali-based club. MPFC plays in the Hero I-League, which along with the Indian Super League is one of two premier football leagues in the country.

Instead of demand dropping by approximately 9 per cent in 2018 a decline in demand of 5 per cent is now forecast, followed by a further drop in 2019 leading to a total shrinking of the market by 13 per cent over the two years. According to the agency “Clear”, for 2017 the demand for trailers increased in the first half of the year but will have close to zero growth in the second half. Overall 2017 will see a 3 per cent increase in registrations.

Further growth in China is on the cards for Hankook Tire following an expansion of a retail agreement with China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, or Sinopec. Earlier this year, it entered into an agreement to supply truck and bus radials to Sinopec garage retail centres in seven of China’s 32 provinces, and adjusted production at one of the three Hankook tyre plants in China to accommodate expected demand. Yonhap News Agency reports this arrangement has now been extended to a further eight provinces.
