Zenises to accept Bitcoin for all transactions
Harjeev Kandhari, CEO of the Zenises Group, has announced that Zenises is going to accept Bitcoin for all its transactions both off line and online. The company is believed to be the first tyre firm in the world to do so. Zenises reports that it has been working to develop the technology at its newly launched technology centre in Madrid and working with several experts in the Blockchain world.

A Michelin guide for Guangzhou will be available in 2018, and Michelin says it will allow everyone - locals, tourists, and business travellers alike - to benefit from the inspectors recommendations whatever their desires, tastes and budgets may be. The guide for Guangzhou will be the world’s 31st Michelin guide selection and the seventh in Asia, excluding Japan.

Cooper Tire & Rubber reports that it has laid off around 80 salaried employees in North America. Approximately 60 of these were located at the company’s Findlay site, and the remainder in Texarkana and Tupelo. According to a statement issued by the tyre maker, these job losses come as part of a reorganisation of certain departments within the company in order to “best position” it for “long-term profitable growth.”

Scientists at NASAs Glenn Research centre are offering a non-pneumatic tyre up for licence as part the space agency’s technology transfer programme. The “superelastic” tyre was developed for future Mars missions but is said to be a viable alternative to pneumatic tyres here on Earth. This technology represents the latest evolution of the spring tyre which was invented by NASA Glenn and Goodyear, and inspired by the Apollo lunar tyres.

On 20 November 2017 the United States District Court for the Central District of California held Chinese tyre factories Doublestar Dong Feng Tyre Co., Ltd. (DDF) and Qingdao Doublestar Tire Industrial Co., Ltd. (QDT) in contempt for violating a 2014 Final Judgment prohibiting the manufacture and sale of tyres using a confusingly similar tread to that of Toyo’s best-selling Open Country M/T. DDF and QDT were held in contempt for selling the AMP M/T tyre, which was deemed to be too similar.

At the end of November, Japan’s Toray Industries admitted to 149 cases of quality data falsification at a materials-making subsidiary that span eight years. According to a report by Reuters, the firm said the cheating involved tyre-strengthening cord that was sold to 13 clients by Toray Hybrid Cord.
