EU begins registering Chinese truck tyre imports
On 1 February the European Commission began implementing regulation (EU) 2018/163, making imports of new and retreaded commercial vehicle tyres originating from China subject to registration. The news follows the initiation of anti-dumping proceedings on 11 August 2017 and anti-subsidy proceedings on 14 October 2017.

Tyre supply: Hankook Tire in talks with US car makers
Hankook Tire reports that it is currently discussing original equipment tyre supply opportunities with “several top-tier US auto manufacturers,” with a view to becoming the original equipment supplier for a “handful of popular 2019 models.” The tyre maker says it is also negotiating “notable partnerships” in the USA for this year. In 2017 Hankook secured OE deals with two of the top-selling sedans on the US market, the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Westlake Tyres reports substantial tyre agreement with TIP Trailer Services in Scandinavia
Westlake Tyres and TIP Trailer Services Nordic have reached an agreement covering “the purchase and use of a significant amount of Westlake Tyres.” Westlake Tyre Europe shares that in the first year of this agreement between the transport equipment leasing company and DSV Road NV, exclusive distributor of the Westlake brand in Scandinavia, an “extensive amount” of tyres will be supplied for use at TIP Trailer Services workshops in sites in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
