Petlas Tire and Trade Corp. reports that it recently completed its Final Finish Sorting System (FFSS) and also started to build a fully automatic warehouse. With that smart warehouse Petlas aims to have product traceability feature from production line to delivery to all its customers around the world. In addition, the smart warehouse means less space and effectiveness compared with other conventional solutions.

Under a new multi-year manufacturing offtake agreement, the Sailun tyre plant in Vietnam will produce truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres for Cooper Tire & Rubber. Tyres produced for Cooper in the Sailun Vietnam Co., Ltd. plant will be manufactured under the Roadmaster, Dean and Starfire brand names and be sold in global markets. Cooper says the offtake agreement gives it a “third global source of TBR tyre production to meet growing customer needs.”

Distribution: Cooper building 1-million ft² warehouse
Cooper Tire & Rubber is in the process of expanding its warehousing capabilities in the USA. A new facility is currently being built in Byhalia, Mississippi, a location the tyre maker selected for its proximity to the Cooper tyre factories in Findlay (Ohio), Texarkana (Arkansas) and Tupelo (Mississippi). When completed this autumn, the 1 million square foot (92,900 square metre) warehouse will be the largest distribution centre for Cooper in the country.

Yokohama opens indoor winter tyre test facility
With the opening of a new indoor facility for testing winter tyres, Yokohama Rubber says it can improve the accuracy of its test data and thus develop more advanced technologies. The indoor test centre is located at Yokohama Rubber’s Tire Test Center of Hokkaido (TTCH) facility in Asahikawa City, Japan, and began testing tyres on 5 January ahead of its official inauguration on 30 January.

Exhibiting its eponymous and Nitto brands, the tyre manufacturer presented its motorsport pedigree with guests Ken Block and BJ Baldwin, while Toyo Tires president, Takashi Shimizu, and managing director, Tomoshige Mizutani, were on hand to talk about the company’s history and North American automobile culture.
