Avon tyre production restarts with Nova Motorsport in Portugal
Nova Motorsport has produced the first Avon Motorsport ACB9 Formula Ford and Avon Traction Mileage tyre for classic Land Rovers at its new manufacturing facility in Portugal. The plant, acquired from Camac in May 2024, is equipped with moulds and manufacturing equipment from the former Avon factory in Melksham.

Nokian Tyres is investing in a new production line for heavy tyre inner tubes at its factory in Nokia, Finland. The company expects that the first inner tubes made in Nokia will be ready in the first half of 2025. Production in Nokian replaces the manufacture of inner tubes in Lieksa, Finland, where production will end in stages during 2025.

Following the news that Yokohama Rubber will buy Goodyear OTR eight months after Goodyear put the business unit up for sale as part of its “Forward” rationalisation scheme, further details of the transaction have emerged. In short, Yokohama opted for a far lower valuation calculation in the purchase of Goodyear OTR than it did when buying Trelleborg Wheel Systems a year or so ago; has specifically gained Goodyear OTR brand rights; and the Goodyear Luxembourg OTR tyre operation does not form part of the sale to Yokohama.

Vittoria is empowering cyclists to “make more environmentally conscious purchases” via a carbon footprint analysis of the company’s entire range. The development follows two years of development with Deloitte. As a result of that, Vittoria reports that it has introduced “a comprehensive tool based on the UNI EN ISO 14067:2018 Systematic Approach”. Externally certified by Bureau Veritas in June 2024, the offers detailed data on the CO2 emissions produced during the lifecycle of each tyre.
