Golf: Bridgestone title sponsor for Senior Players Championship
Beginning in 2019, Bridgestone will act as title sponsor for the Senior Players Championship, the annual golf championship for players aged 50 and over on the PGA Tour Champions. The agreement announced by PGA Tour yesterday covers a four-year period through 2022, and when players head out onto the Firestone Country Club’s South Course between 8-14 July, they will be competing in the ‘Bridgestone Senior Players Championship’.

Clearlake Capital acquires Wheel Pros
Aftermarket wheel designer, marketer and distributor Wheel Pros has a new owner. The US-based company, previously the property of Audax Private Equity, has been sold to Clearlake Capital Group for an undisclosed sum. With its acquisition of Wheel Pros Holdings, LLC, Clearlake Capital Group takes on a company that serves over 10,000 retailers through its network of 33 distribution centres in North America and Australia, supplying them a portfolio of 12 proprietary brands and more than 300 custom wheel styles.

The US Court of International Trade (CIT) has remanded five Chinese OTR tyre importers to the Department of Commerce (DOC). This means an antidumping duty determination against the five firms and has been made and DOC has been ordered to recalculate the antidumping margins it issued against them in a 2016 administrative review.

Maxxis Victra Sport 5 set for Cologne launch
Maxxis is heading to the Tire Cologne show (29 May to 01 June) ready to show off one of the most innovative tyres it has ever produced. The new Victra Sport 5 premium sport tyre will be officially unveiled on the manufacturer’s stand (Hall 7, C030) at 15.00 on the opening day. According to the company, the new tyre “is set to follow in the footsteps of other recently launched products by elevating the Maxxis range to a whole new level of performance.”

US requests information from Goodyear after ruling in alleged defective tyre case
A court in the US state of Arizona ruled on 3 April that Goodyear Tire & rubber cannot continue to keep court documents relating to an alleged defect in a Goodyear tyre secret. The ruling from the Superior Court of Arizona, Maricopa County, comes in the Haeger v. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company personal injury case and follows a motion from non-profit organisation the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) to unseal court records and remove a protective order.

Ltd. on 4 April at a ceremony attended by Wang Feng, president of Linglong Tire, Sanjeev Sood, president of Thai Carbon Black Public, and Amit Saini, the Birla Group company’s vice-president of sales and marketing.
