Effective 1 June 2018, Cabot Corporation is increasing prices for carbon black products sold by its Reinforcement Materials segment in North America. All Vulcan, Sterling, Regal, Spheron and Propel carbon black products will increase by $0.045/lb except for Vulcan XC-72, Vulcan XC-72 R and Sterling C carbon blacks. In addition, prices will increase by 4 per cent for Black Pearls, Monarch, CRX, Vulcan XC-72, Vulcan XC-72 R and Sterling C carbon black products.

Cabot Corporation has announced that Eduardo Cordeiro, executive vice president, chief financial officer (CFO) and president of the Americas Region, will retire from Cabot at the end of 2018. He steps down from these roles effective 15 May 2018 at which time Erica McLaughlin, the company’s vice president of business operations for Cabot’s Reinforcement Materials segment and general manager of the tyre business, will become senior vice president and CFO. Cordeiro will remain with Cabot in an advisory capacity through the end of the year to assist in a smooth transition.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has revised its countervailing duty rate for Guizhou Tyre. According to the 13 April 2018 edition of the US government’s Federal Register, the new rate for Guizhou is 31.49 per cent down from a rate of 39.10 per cent that the DOC assessed in October 2017.

At a ceremony held at the Mexican Embassy in Rome on Monday, the Águila Azteca (Order of the Aztec Eagle) was bestowed upon Marco Tronchetti Provera. The Pirelli executive vice-president and chief executive offer received this, the highest honour the government of Mexico grants to foreigners, for services rendered to the country.

We’re not sure whether a world record exists for the largest tyre logo – it’s a question that has never come up here at Tyrepress.com – but if there is, Pirelli must surely be in the running to claim it. The tyre maker has brought no less than 41 cars together in Monza to recreate a portrayal of the Pirelli logo made in 1978. A dozen prestige marques and 22,000 horsepower went into creating the 80-metre-long, 18-metre-tall logo.

TBC Corporation acquires Interstate brand marketing rights
Marketing rights to the Interstate tyre brand have been acquired by TBC Corporation this month. This transaction follows the entry of Interstate Tire & Rubber into insolvency late last year. The US-based aftermarket tyre distributor has also appointed Theo de Vries, formerly director marketing and sales at Interstate Tires, its new international sales and marketing manager.
