Michelin North America has been ranked America’s best large employer by Forbes magazine. Naming the tyre maker the top company in its Americas Best Employers 2018 survey, Forbes commented that “Michelin may not be the first organisation that comes to mind when you think about corporate social responsibility, but its business model centres on sustainability.” The publication also noted that Michelin is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and acts as corporate partner to numerous good causes, also offering its employees the opportunity to participate in volunteering efforts.

Canada-based Gratomic Inc. has signed a letter of collaboration with Perpetuus Carbon Technologies Limited to develop and market graphite-derived graphenes and graphene hybrids for tyre elastomers. According Gratomic, a number of end-user customers (which in this case means tyre manufacturers) are already road-testing tyres based on this material. Bicycle tyres, motorbike tyres, military tyres and race tyres are said to be key areas of interest.

Alliance launches first radial OTR range under Galaxy brand
On 23 April Alliance Tire Group (ATG) launched its first radial construction OTR tyre range under its Galaxy brand. The range, which was launched at the Intermat exhibition in Paris includes the HTSR 400 E4 and L4 for dump trucks; the LDSR 300 E3 and L3 for wheel loaders; and the MGSR 200 G2 for graders used on uneven surfaces.
