Michelin Germany integrates Camso sales team under Reifenwerke
Camso Germany’s sales team has been integrated into Michelin Reifenwerke. The manufacturer of Camso and Solideal brand off-road tyres, wheels, tracks and chain systems is now under the umbrella of Michelin Off- and Highway Transportation (OHT). Michelin acquired the Canadian company in 2018.

The worlds light vehicle market is forecast to decline by 17.2 per cent to 73.6 million units in 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and its associated economic fallout, according to data and analytics company GlobalData. Calum MacRae, automotive analyst at the company, comments: This is a bigger one-off shock than witnessed in the two years of the global financial crisis.”

Michelin remains the world’s most valuable and strongest tyre brand, according to the latest Brand Finance Automotive Industry report. However, while Michelin has retained its top position for the second year in a row since it gained the crown from Bridgestone in 2018, Chinese tyremaker Linglong Tires cemented its position as an up-and-coming tyre brand by entering the top 10 after a couple of years of being tipped as a fast riser.

Following the news that Nussbaum had got into financial difficulties due to the costs of restructuring process that had been going on since 2014, high repayment charges, a slump in demand and the effects of the COVID19 pandemic, its future has now apparently been secured. Our German sister publication Neue Reifenzeitung’s online portal reifepresse.de reports that after the bankruptcy of parent company Otto Nußbaum GmbH & Co. KG, the insolvency administrator Dr. Dirk Pehl of Schultze & Braun sold the business to the newly-founded Nussbaum Custom Lifts GmbH effective 1 July 2020, which is also connected to the Nussbaum family. As a result, around 220 employees will be transferred to the new company and the firm’s production sites in Kehl are to be retained.

The second phase, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022, will see the company add passenger car, truck and OTR tyres to its portfolio.
