Maha Group managing director Dr Thomas Aubel has resigned at his own request effective 10 November 2020. As managing director, Aubel has been responsible for the company’s sales Germany, sales international and Maha Service Center since October 2018. He has been a member of Maha Maschinenbau Haldenwang’s advisory board since December 2017.

BKT has set up one of the first-ever contactless E-ICU, COVID-19 treatment facilities to be built in India outside of a hospital. The centre is located at the tyre maker’s Bhuj site, and its doctor and eight healthcare workers are responsible for treating workers and their families affected by coronavirus.

Pirelli has been confirmed as the world Sustainability leader in the Automobiles & Components sector on the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indices. This was the result of the annual review of the indices conducted by S&P Global through SAM. Pirelli earned a total score of 84 points, compared with an average for the sector of 35.

Financial analysts have reiterated their “buy” rating on Continental AG shares, while also raising price target from 150 euros from 123 euros previously. In short, Continental AG is expected to continue outperforming consensus estimates. Writing in an investors note dated 18 November, Jefferies equity research said: “Tyre margins will return to an industry leading greater than 15 per cent in full-year 2021. Conti remains among the least liked stocks in the sector which provides positive surprise potential.”

In December, ZC Rubber will begin servicing the eastern states of the USA from a new distribution centre. ZC Rubber America has set up a 30,000 square foot (2,800 square metre) warehouse in Statesville, North Carolina, which will serve as the distribution hub for dealers and customers of its Arison tyre brand. The facility can hold approximately 10,000 truck tyres.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries has been working together with Japan’s Gunma University since last year to develop a system that remotely monitors tyre pressure in driverless vehicles. The tyre maker reports that, having created a system that works with Level 4 autonomous vehicles, it conducted a successful proof-of-concept test of this new system on public roads on 12 November.

Avon Tyres featured on Evel Knievel motorcycle restoration
Avon Tyres are featured as part of a faithful restoration of a motorcycle previously ridden by stunt performer Evel Knievel. The 1968-spec American Eagle Laverda, a bike on which Knievel made a host of jumps during the late 1960s and early 1970s, has gone on display at the Evel Knievel Museum in Topeka, Kansas. The restored Laverda was formally rolled into the museum on Friday, 6 November, where it was placed alongside other iconic items, such as Knievels original Mack Truck. It will remain on show for a period of two years, prior to being returned to the owner.

The plant in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone started production of various electronic components in August 2018.
