Exhibitions – down but not out
Nothing holds a candle to trade fairs when it comes to meeting up and sharing experiences. This past year may have shown us what life without tyre shows looks like, but it hasn’t offered us much in the way of alternatives.

Porsche Taycan sets 102mph indoor land speed record on OE tyres
Until recently, the Guinness World Record for the fastest speed by a vehicle indoors stood at 86 mph. That was until Leh Keen’s Porsche Taycan Turbo S was clocked by independent adjudicators at 102.6 mph inside the New Orleans Convention Center. Keen’s all-electric Taycan Turbo S has a maximum of 750 hp, with four-wheel drive to maximize grip, powerful carbon ceramic brakes and the ability to accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in just 2.6 seconds. 2022 dates for rescheduled The Tire Cologne reopen Autopromotec feud
When Koelnmesse confirmed the re-rescheduled dates for The Tire Cologne as 24-26 May 2022, it invited a retread of a 2020 spat with the organisers of Bologna based auto-repair and aftermarket show Autopromotec, whose 2022 edition is scheduled for 25-28 May. Then, Koelnmesse reacted to the enforced cancellation of the scheduled 2020 edition of The Tire Cologne by setting 18-21 May as the new dates for the show. The proximity of these dates to Autopromotec 2021, which was scheduled for 26-29 May, drew a strongly worded response from Renzo Servadei, chief executive officer of Autopromotec. He compared Koelnmesses decision to Darwinism: This is not the time to play “survival of the fittest”. Even in the exhibition sector, the levers of competition can never prove fatal as today, while strategies of solidarity and collaboration should be triggered.”
