Bosch upgrades its Esitronic online diagnostic software to version 2.0
At the end of April Bosch launched the latest version of its online diagnostic software. Bosch Esitronic 2.0 is designed to support workshop staff with repair and maintenance tasks. To this end it provides diagnostic data, troubleshooting instructions, maintenance schedules as well as removal and installation instructions for individual components.

During the pandemic year 2020, connected and intelligent car solutions reached a value of 1.8 billion euros. A third of the market is represented by ADAS systems (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, equating to 600 million euros). The largest segment is constituted by so-called solutions for the connected car, which in 2020 slowed down to 1.18 billion euros (-2%), after having grown in double figures during both 2018 (+ 31%) and in 2019 (+ 14%). Similar trends can be seen across Western countries, which oscillate between -5 per cent and + 5 per cent.

Goodyear and TyreOps have created a connection to allow fleet, job and inspection data to be synchronised when carrying out work for fleets in a move that stretches across Europe. According to the companies, the connection will allow tyre businesses within the Goodyear network to save up to 50 per cent of admin time when carrying out fleet work and allows TyreOps users to manage assigned Goodyear fleets alongside their existing customers. As well as time savings and efficiency gains, the move is designed to “eliminate the need for double entry of data”.

Falken has donated 5,000 euros to the Offenbach-based organisation “von Herzen zu Herzen gemeinnützige GmbH” (the “Heart to Heart” charity). The donation has been shared between two charities supporting children: Theresien Kinder- und Jugendhilfezentrum e.V. (St. Teresa Centre for Aid to Children and Young People) and Förderverein der Mathildenschule (Foundation of the School of Saint Matilda).

Halfords has entered the B2B software market by making American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) the first customer of Halfords’ Avayler proprietary software which streamlines “service delivery for companies that operate in multiple locations.” According to Halfords, the Avayler platform will underpin ATD’s operations, supplying tyres to 80,000 garages across the US. ATD will also be the exclusive provider of the Avayler Mobile platform to the North American automotive market. ATD is one of the largest independent suppliers of tyres in the US replacement market and the part owner of Tirebuyer.com (which was established by blackcircles.com founder Mike Welch). No price details associated with the sale of the Avayler software system to ATD have yet been disclosed.

A focus on export markets seems to be delivering results for Ukrainian tyre maker Rosava. The company is developing a “niche strategy focused on the European and US markets,” and reports that exports have grown to 61 per cent of total sales in the first half of 2021, up from 45 per cent in the first half of 2018. “This is possible due to the continuous upgrading, expansion of the tyre range and improvement of rubber compounding based on international standards,” shares the tyre maker.
