Giti Tire appeared on the 19 June episode of Top Gear, supporting the presenting trio’s participation in a round of the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC). The episode focused on commercial vehicles – an HGV special – as presenters Chris Harris, Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness passed their lorry driving tests before driving across the UK in new DAF, Mercedes and Scania pulling units. Their journey ended at Pembrey Race Circuit, where McGuinness then competed in a BTRC round in a fully liveried Giti truck.

Nokian Tyres raises 2022 net sales guidance
Although the war in Ukraine and subsequent sanctions continue to “cause significant uncertainty” for Nokian Tyres’ operating environment, especially in regards to its business in Russia, on Friday the company reported that demand for its tyres has nonetheless remained good. For this reason, and after successfully implementing price increases to mitigate the impact of inflation, Nokian Tyres has raised its net sales guidance for 2022.

Bridgestone partners with Dow to develop ‘breakthrough’ tyre sealant
Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) and Dow recently announced that they have partnered to develop B-Seals, a silicone-based tyre sealant. According to the two companies, B-Seals can be efficiently separated from tyres to promote tyre repairability after a puncture. In addition, the technology is designed to enable end-of-life tyre recycling and extended tyre life.

A swap and a new addition – that’s how the changes amongst the top 10 largest automotive suppliers by turnover worldwide can be summed up. Places one to five stayed the same as last year. That means: Bosch leads the top 10, followed by Denso, Continental, ZF Friedrichshafen and Magna. Behind them, Hyundai Mobis, now sixth, and Aisin, now seventh, have swapped places compared to the ranking published last year, before Michelin and Bridgestone follow unchanged in eighth and ninth place respectively.

Following the successful takeover of Hella by Faurecia, the two companies made their first joint appearance at an automotive trade fair under the new, overarching umbrella brand Forvia. At this years Automotive Engineering Exposition, which took place in Yokohama, Japan, from 25 to 27 May 2022 and is one of the leading industry trade fairs in the Asian region, they presented technologies for a safe, sustainable, advanced and customised mobility as part of a joint stand concept. The approximately 100 square metre stand was designed in the stylistic colours blue and white, which characterise the new brand identity of the Forvia umbrella brand. In total, around 1,000 customers, business partners and other guests visited the Forvia stand.
