900 kWh electric truck wearing Goodyear Kmax tyres
Goodyear has supplied Kmax Gen-2 steer and drive axle tyres for a vehicle billed as the world’s first fully-electric 40-tonne tractor unit boasting 900-kilowatt hours (kWh) of battery capacity. The Futuricum-made truck has been in daily use with Swiss logistics firm Galliker Transport AG since October 2021.

Volta Trucks completes first customer evaluation of the full-electric Volta Zero
Volta Trucks, the full-electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and services provider, has completed its first customer driving evaluation and feedback sessions of the Volta Zero Design Verification prototype. The review gave customers their first experience of the zero-tailpipe emission medium-duty truck designed for urban logistics, providing a real-world understanding of the vehicle’s performance, world-first driver-centric cab and innovative safety features. Volta entered a tyre partnership with Bridgestone in August 2020, with the manufacturer supplying tyres to Volta’s pilot fleet since 2021.

Bridgestone, partnering with Kwik Fit, will be sponsoring both Hall 5 and the motorsport arena. The hall and arena’s names will reflect this arrangement and they’ll respectively be known as the Bridgestone Hall in partnership with Kwik Fit and The Bridgestone Motorsport Arena in partnership with Kwik Fit.

Aeolus gains additional 38% stake in Prometeon
On 28 June, China National Tyre & Rubber Co., Ltd (CNRC), a subsidiary of state-owned conglomerate Sinochem Holdings, completed the acquisition of the 38 per cent share in Prometeon Tyre Group (PRG) owned by High Grade (HK) Investment Management Ltd. Once it has concluded “internal decision-making procedures,” CNRC will entrust its stake in PTG to Aeolus Tyre.

Bridgestone closing Hong Kong aircraft tyre plant
Bridgestone Corporation has announced plans to consolidate its aircraft tyre retreading operations in Asia. At the end of June 2023, it will close the Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Company (Asia), Ltd. operation in Hong Kong and transfer production to its Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. facility in Chonburi, Thailand. The closure of the plant in Hong Kong will affect 102 employees.

BKT supplier and family-run tyre wholesaler RH Claydon (RHC) has announced the official opening date of its new depot in Carlisle’s Kingmoor Park North enterprise zone. From Monday 1 August the site will be open for deliveries and collections between 8 am and 5:30 pm Monday and for collection 9 am to 12 pm Saturdays. This depot is the company’s eighth site and will allow a greater coverage of the north and border areas.
