ATS Euromaster partnering to meet fleet needs
Two months on from the opening of its new tyre fitting and service centre in Hull, and ATS Euromaster reports that the business is “going from strength to strength.” The new premises allows for commercial vehicle servicing including MOT work for class 4 and 7 commercials and for trained technicians to perform routine maintenance on EVs and hybrid vehicles.

While Michelin was found to the be most valuable tyre brand, as we previewed a month ago, the 2023 Brand Finance data also shows Michelin is the strongest brand with a Brand Strength Index score of 88.1 out of 100 and a corresponding AAA rating. However, there were also significant shifts between 10th and 15th place in the ranking of the world’s leading tyre brands. Specifically, Sailun leapfrogged Linglong into 11th place in the “most valuable” category. And MRF rose two places from 15th to 13th this year. Meanwhile, Dunlop’s brand value shrank three-times faster than Sailun Tires grew.

Apollo Tyres has appointed Bruno De Langhe as its new country sales manager for the Belux region. He will succeed Antoine de Grand Ry, who has retired after more than 30 years at the company. De Langhe joined Apollo Tyres in 2022 as an account manager for passenger car tyres in Belgium. Since then, he has been responsible for boosting brand awareness and sales in the Belux region.

Mercedes-Benz will soon use waste tyres removed from its vehicles in the production of new cars. German pyrolysis recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations has taken the “next step” in its cooperation with the vehicle manufacturer and anticipates recycling several hundred tonnes of used tyres from the Mercedes-Benz Used Parts Centre every year. Pyrolysis oil made from these tyres will be used in the manufacture of vehicle components.

Recently, Prinx Chengshan revealed in its 2022 annual report that it has decided to suspend its Anhui tyre factory project. The tyre maker said that the suspension of investment was due to the domestic and foreign economic situation and the company’s forecast analysis of capacity utilisation. According to the original plan of Prinx Chengshan, the Anhui factory is its second tyre factory in China.

Aeoluss first batch of 63-inch OTR tyres was shipped from the company’s Jiaozuo manufacturing base on 11 March. The specification model of this batch of tyres is 59/80R63. Aeolus said that these giant tyres were sent to key overseas markets. The manufacturer said that a giant tyre weighs nearly 6 tons with a diameter for more than 4 metres and is mainly used for mining dump trucks, around 400 tons.

Indeed, the mayor of Las Pontes, Valentín González Formoso, and Qin Long, president of Sentury Tire, signed an agreement to that effect.

The British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) will run exclusively on Giti Race-Tuned v1 global competition truck tyres in size 315/70R22.5 for a second season in 2023, beginning on 8 April at Brands Hatch. Competitors will decide the series over seven race weekends at some of the UK’s leading circuits, Pembrey, Thruxton, Donington, Snetterton, and coming full-circle to end the season, presumably with the hope of some on-track fireworks, on 5 November. Giti will augment its BTRC official tyre partnership status with the sponsorship of the two fully-liveried Team Oliver racing trucks, piloted by the father and son duo, Stuart and Michael Oliver.

Retread supplier Kraiburg Austria navigated choppy 2022 waters successfully to achieve 92 million euro in sales, a figure the company called “satisfactory” and a demonstration of its crisis resistance according to managing director Stefan Mayrhofer. The company registered growth in high-performance compounds for hot cured retreads alongside stable mould cure figures, while developing its business in key Central and Eastern European markets. New Kraiburg products in 2022 included the local public transport focussed K708, the Nordic winter K727 tread, and the 3PMSF-certified K738, which was operational on construction sites and public roads from September. Kraiburg Austria also bolstered its sustainability credentials via its membership of the Global Platform for Sustainable Rubber.
