Juventus FC names Nexen Tire official tyre partner
Earlier in the month, Tyrepress.com reported that Kumho Tire has succeeded Nexen Tire as official tyre partner of football club AC Milan. Nexen Tire has now announced a new partnership but remains within Italy’s Serie A championship as partner of Juventus FC. The Korean tyre maker takes over from Linglong Tire, who had partnered with Juventus since 2018.

On 13 July, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Center of Automotive Management (CAM) bestowed the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award 2023 in the ‘Chassis, Car Body & Exterior’ category upon Michelin for its road-approved car tyres containing 45 per cent sustainable materials. A jury composed of seasoned figures from the industry, the world of science and consulting, as well as specialist media selected Michelin for the award.

Kerridge Commercial Systems (KCS), the ERP and business management software provider, has agreed to buy Compilator, which mainly operates in Sweden, Finland and the UK. The acquisition of Compilator is described as a strategic investment for KCS, supporting its strategy of growing into Northern Europe and Scandinavia. Compilator, which itself serves the tyre and distribution sectors in 2,000 locations throughout the Nordics, UK and Ireland, bought UK-based tyre software business Team Systems back in 2016 as well as the fleet-orientated Inforoute operation in 2019.

Protyre’s Liam Healy and Hometyre’s Craig Schwartz were crowned TPMS Experts in the large and small retailer categories respectively, while Lewis Marshall from Formula One Autocentres prevailed in the under-23s category of Autogem’s second competition to find the country’s leading tyre pressure monitoring system technicians and raise standards and awareness within the industry. More than 1,000 retail sites entered Under Pressure ’23, with 12 technicians beating hundreds to make the final, putting their problem-solving skills to the test at the Pirelli Performance Centre (PPC) in Burton-upon-Trent on Wednesday 28 June. The finalists were praised for detecting various TPMS faults in a quick and efficient manner and communicating them clearly thereafter. Following a successful first outing, Autogem expanded the competition with its third award, focused on young and emerging talent.

Giti Tire has appointed Lars Ohnsorge as senior manager automotive engineering Europe OE. The company said the appointment of the experienced tyre professional would further strengthen its original equipment operations, following the recruitment of Nicolas Kluson as key account manager Europe OE in April, with both providing in-depth technical support and direction from the company’s European R&D Center in Hannover, Germany. Giti said its new OE team will immediately focus on the manufacturer’s existing OE relationships with BMW Group, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), VW Group (Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW) and VW Commercial Vehicles as well as introduce the Giti brand and business philosophy to other key vehicle manufacturers.
