Nokian Tyres appoints Hille Korhonen as president and CEO
As of 1 June 2017 Hille Korhonen will be Nokian Tyres’s new president and chief executive office. Hille Korhonen has more than 20 years of experience in international consumer business. Before joining Nokian Tyres, Korhonen was member of the executive team of Fiskars Oyj Abp (2008–2012) and Iittala corporation (2003–2008) as well as CEO of Alko Oy from 2013. Korhonen has been member of the board of Nokian Tyres plc since 2006.

Braking systems manufacturer Knorr-Bremse has announced that Dr Lorenz Zwingmann, 52, executive board member responsible for finance, IT, controlling and processes, is to leave the company on 31 December 2017. The company adds that he leaves on the very best of terms, opting not renew his contract in order to take up a new professional challenge in his North German homeland. Dr Zwingmann intends to meet his contractual obligations until the termination date, while the supervisory board, noting its regret at his decision, said it would make a decision on a successor as rapidly as possible.

Michelin has launched Click2Sell – a website solution the company refers to as “a flexible ‘website in a box’ that helps dealers build their online presence and attract new customers with ease”. While wholesalers have done similar things, Click2Sell is believed to be the only tyre manufacturer-backed website-building package to allow dealerships in the UK and Ireland the freedom to promote their chosen tyre range online. And, what’s more, the range can be either primarily Michelin tyres or a premium competitor. Click2Sell is open to any dealership.

However, such mitigation measures are expensive to design and implement and, while street level air quality monitoring can highlight the problem in the form of the local hot spots at which exceedances occur, it does not provide information on which of the passing vehicles are the most polluting.

Nexen Tire has become Manchester City and the English Premier League’s first ever sleeve sponsor. The move announced today (17 March 2017) at Manchester City Football Academy, came as Nexen renewed its partnership with the top-flight football club for three more years following the initial contract signed between Nexen and Manchester City (Man City) in August 2015. This takes the sponsorship right up to the 2019/2020 season. No specific financial details were revealed, but Tyres & Accessories understands that the new contract represents “increased investment on the previous deal”, according to Man City chief commercial officer, Tom Glick.
