The Nürburgring 24h Race saw Dunlop continue its good form in endurance racing, securing its 18th victory after a close battle between Land Motorsport Audi and WRT Audi. Aston Martin, with whom Dunlop has recently enjoyed a productive endurance partnership, took the SP8 class win with its Vantage GT8.

Top 10 finish for Falken at the Nürburgring 24 hours
Falken Motorsport achieved eighth place overall at the 45th ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24h race with its new BMW M6 GT3. The Sumitomo global brand’s motorsport division makes the race one of the flagship events in its promotional calendar, and added a second car to its team for the 2017 edition. Falken’s newest addition, competing at the endurance race for the first time in the company’s colours, was the third-best BMW home after a collision on Saturday evening led to the retirement of its Porsche 911 GT3 after completing just 26 laps.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has recognised Cooper Tire’s Tupelo and Clarksdale, Mississippi plants as members of its environmental stewardship enHance initiative. A voluntary programme consisting of three-year membership terms, the enHance initiative, which stands for “envision heightened awareness nurturing conservation and environmental excellence,” recognises committed environmental leaders in Mississippi that put in place environmental initiatives beyond those that are required.

Belarusian OTR tyre manufacturer is reportedly discussing the establishment of a joint venture with Japanese tyremaker Yokohama. According to the local Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA), talks were held during a visit from a delegation of Yokohamas executives led by chairman and representative member of the board Tadanobu Nagumo. BelTA cited representatives of Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim as its source.

Bridgestone extends Arla fleet agreement
Bridgestone has extended its fleet supply agreement with Arla Foods, taking the relationship into a 10th consecutive year. In addition to its premium brand tyres, the manufacturer will also supply its tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) and Total Tyre Care support to the 13,500-strong dairy farmer cooperative until at least 2020. Arla said call-out times have been reduced by up to 30 per cent as a direct result of Bridgestone’s support, explaining the decision to renew its contract.

Indeed, citing a study published in 2014 in the journal Tire Science and Technology, the report writers found that the average and median tread depths of removed tyres are 3.1 and 3mm respectively.
