Held at The Brewery in London on Monday 11 December, the ceremony recognised the brightest and best businesses and individuals working in a constantly evolving industry. Both Cedar Garage and Anderson Clark Motor Repairs were presented with their awards by former Formula 1 driver, Johnny Herbert.

Micheldever to supply Sumitomo brand tyres, marks a year since change of ownership
As we go to print on the December issue of Tyres & Accessories, Micheldever Group is marking a year since Sumitomo Rubber Industries, manufacturer of Falken Tyres for which MTS is UK distributor, bought the UK tyre distributor from previous owner Graphite Capital Management. While the sale was not unexpected, the identity of the new owner may have been somewhat surprising, though SRI’s investment in Falken Tyre Europe following the late-2015 dissolution of its alliance agreement with Goodyear makes the acquisition of a leading distributor a logical move. For Micheldever’s board, SRI was said to be an attractive new owner, with the presumption that it would offer offering longevity, stability, and consistency; as a large, well-established, high quality top-six tyre manufacturer seeking to broaden its knowledge of UK distribution with an already successful business.

Euromaster targeting 25% online growth in 2018
Michelin reports an aim of growing online sales through its Euromaster retail network in the UK and Europe by 25 per cent in 2018. This projected growth follows a 30 per cent increase in online sales through Euromaster this year, with online sales accounting for 15 per cent of all Euromaster sales in 2017.

Bridgestone Corporation today announced it has established PT. Bridgestone Mining Solutions Indonesia (BMSI) from 9 November 2017. BMSI integrates the Bridgestone Corporation Jakarta Representative Office, which provides maintenance services for tyres for construction and mining vehicles, with PT. Bridgestone Engineered Products Indonesia (BSEA-IN), a subsidiary in Indonesia that sells conveyor belts for mining applications. As part of this integration, BSEA-IN has been officially renamed as BMSI.

The Court of The Hague in The Netherlands has declared Interstate Tire & Rubber BV insolvent. According to an official document, the court reached this decision on 30 November 2017. Proceedings will be conducted under case number F.09/17/429, with J.A.M. Reuser appointed as case curator. Further official information regarding the insolvency has not yet been made available.

The Huf Group has agreed to acquire all shares in MHG (Thailand) Co. Ltd. from Australia’s MH Group. The Rayong-based automotive supplier engages in injection moulding and robotic painting and employs approximately people. Its main customers are Ford, Automotive Alliance Thailand (a joint venture between Ford and Mazda) and other automotive manufacturers in Thailand. The transaction is scheduled to be completed today.

LKQ Corporation to acquire Stahlgruber GmbH for €1.5 billion
German aftermarket car parts and tools distributor Stahlgruber GmbH will soon have a new owner. LKQ Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement with Stahlgruber group management holding company Stahlgruber Otto Gruber AG to acquire the subsidiary for an enterprise value of approximately 1.5 billion euros. LKQ expects to complete the transaction late in the first quarter or early in the second quarter of 2018, subject to required regulatory approvals.
