Diesel decline sees CO2 emissions rise
Average CO2 emissions have climbed almost three per cent to 124.5g/km, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has warned. The rise has been blamed on a diesel sales slump and experts say if CO2 emissions continue to rise it could have detrimental effects on the environment and also see countries miss their targets for slashing emissions.

Electric Audi e-tron SUV to run on Bridgestone tyres as original equipment
Audi has selected Bridgestone as its tyre supplier for the release of its first all-electric SUV, the Audi e-tron. The companies agreed a list of characteristics required to highlight the specifications of the new model. The e-tron boasts fast acceleration, high comfort, very low noise, and high levels of safety without dropping performance. Bridgestone will supply six different tyres sized between 19 and 21 inches, four summer and two winter tyres, as original equipment. The manufacturer has emphasised the original equipment channel recently, achieving more than 120 OE fitments in EMEA during 2018, a result it labelled its best ever.

Continental commissioned the first driverless tyre test vehicle for a wide range of road surface types at its Ulvade, Texas test track on 19 December 2018. The aim is to make the test results for Continentals passenger and light truck tyres more conclusive and minimize the impact of the test procedure on the results. The new test vehicle is based on Continentals automated Cruising Chauffeur, which was developed for freeways.

Hella, a global automotive supplier, has concluded the first six months of its fiscal year 2018/2019 (June 1 to November 30, 2018) with positive sales and earnings despite a challenging market environment. Thus, currency and portfolio-adjusted consolidated sales rose by 7.3 per cent. Taking into account exchange rate effects and the divestment of the wholesale distribution business, the reported sales increased by 2.8 per cent to € 3.6 billion (previous year: € 3.5 billion).
