GT Radial is the new main sprint circuit sponsor at this weekend’s Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry 2019. During the UK’s largest urban motorsports festival weekend, the MotoFest Coventry track, created from the city’s ring road, will be named the GT Radial sprint circuit. As part of the sponsorship agreement, GT Radial will run its VW Fun Cup cars on the sprint circuit on both days of the festival weekend.

EfTD: Turnover grows 46% to €1.1 billion
Tyre wholesaler European FinTyre Distribution (EfTD), a Bain Capital company, reports a turnover of 1.1 billion euros for the 2018 financial year, a 46 per cent year-on-year increase. EBITDA reportedly rose 83 per cent year-on-year. This positive net cash flow helped finance its acquisition of RS Exclusiv, which was completed in May 2019 and increased the group’s turnover to approximately 1.2 billion euros. According to chief executive officer Mauro Pessi, the company anticipates a turnover of 1.3 billion euros this year.

The manufacturer’s EMR, Earthmover Radial Series, was displayed at BAUMA in two sizes: 29.5R25 EMR 1030 and 17.5R25 EMR 1025. The range is designed to perform and to enhance productivity in construction applications, increasing both damage protection and durability. Its multi-surface tread design provides control and perfect grip on sand, rock, gravel or soil. It joined the multipurpose bias tyre, the MPX TB construction pneumatic designed for telehandler and compact loader applications in the most demanding environments.

Bernard Schäferbarthold’s (48) management contract was extended by five years until 31 October 2024. He will continue as managing director for the corporate Finance, Controlling, and Information Technology divisions in the long term. On the other, Dr Frank Huber (38), the deputy managing director for the Lighting business division, will take over management of the division from CEO Dr Rolf Breidenbach (56) with effect from 1 June 2019.

Continental wins inaugural Tyre Industry Environmental & Sustainable Solution Award
The Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights has named Continental Tyre Group Ltd the inaugural winners of the Tyre Industry Environmental & Sustainable Solution Award. The accolade was presented at the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights White Tie Banquet. The independent judging panel looked for entries to show evidence of materially reducing the environmental impact of tyres and production over the product’s entire lifespan, whilst promoting sustainability and bringing environmental benefits to both business and wider society. Conti’s marketing director Tracey Mortimer said the award was “a huge honour,” which “highlights Continental’s commitment to environmental consideration.”

Ronal gains Hyundai Motor Group supplier award
Alloy wheel manufacturer the Ronal Group has become the first European supplier to be admitted to the Hyundai Motor Group’s ‘5 Star Circle’. It received this award, bestowed only upon the vehicle manufacturer’s top suppliers, at the Kia Motors plant in Žilina, Slovakia on 16 April. The Ronal factory in Jelcz, Poland also gained a Quality Award.
