The National Tyre Distributors Association has presented a bumper crop of awards during its 92nd Annual Dinner in Birmingham. In the headline awards, Merityre was made the Overall Tyre Retailer of the Year, sponsored by Pirelli Tyres, Bridgestone took first place in Tyre Manufacturer of the Year, sponsored by The Commercial Vehicle Show, while Stapleton’s Tyre Services became 2021’s Tyre Wholesaler of the Year, sponsored by Compilator / Team Systems. Business sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis has awarded Hankook Tire & Technology a platinum medal in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 2021 assessment. Platinum is, the tyre maker notes, a status bestowed upon companies whose performance is within the top one per cent of their industry sector. The current platinum medal is Hankook’s third back-to-back top-tier EcoVadis award; it earned the then highest gold award in 2019, followed by a platinum award upon the introduction of this recognition last year.

Continental to streamline board as members to leave early
Continental has initiated a restructure of its management following a meeting of its Supervisory Board on Thursday. Board members Helmut Matschi and Frank Jourdan will leave the company prematurely. Matschi (58) and Jourdan (61) were originally to stay in position until 2024. As of January 1, 2022, the company will retain only five board members. The group will also integrate its activities into three corporate divisions: Automotive, Tires and ContiTech.
