Ex-Trinseo VP appointed Orion CTO
Orion S.A., which supplies speciality chemicals such as carbon black to automotive firms including tyremakers, has named Natalia Scherbakoff as the company’s new chief technology officer (CTO). Scherbakoff succeeds David Deters who previously led Orion’s global innovation program for over a decade. Deters announced his retirement earlier this year and will remain with Orion through the end of 2024.

Indian tyre maker Ceat Limited has announced its unaudited results for the second quarter of its 2024-25 financial year, which ended on 30 September 2024. On a consolidated basis, the Company’s revenue closed at Rs 33.30 billion (£304.78 million), EBITDA margin stood at 11.1 per cent, a contraction of 102 bps vs Q1 FY24-25. Net profit stood at Rs 1.21 billion (£11.19 million).

The tyre maker is presenting VPO for the first time at Equip Exposition, which is taking place in Louisville, USA between 15 and 18 October.

Zeus – which operates in freight management – has equipped Apollo Tyres with Zeus Command AI. The Zeus logistics management solution is designed to help Apollo streamline its European operations. Indeed, as a result of the work with Zeus, Apollo Tyres Ltd is expected to reduce its European transport costs by 1.8 million euros per year. Zeus Command AI is also designed to bring Apollo Tyres “operational productivity increases of up to 25 per cent”.

Approximately 220 employees of wheel maker BBS Autotechnik in Germany received their redundancy notices in the post yesterday. The redundancies apply to all workers save for a team of 16 who will continue to work to wind up the firm. Insolvency administrator Dr Dirk Pehl previously announced that needed to make all but a few employees redundant, but notifications couldnt be sent out until various agreements between the employer and the BBS works council were approved and notification of large-scale redundancies submitted to Germany’s state employment agency (Agentur für Arbeit).

The deal sees Nexen becoming the official shirt sponsor for Al-Nasr Club’s first team during the 2024-2025 season. In addition, through the partnership, Nexen will “engage in various marketing initiatives, including LED and digital billboard advertisements in the stadium, logo branding, and collaborative marketing efforts”. The partnership was jointly established with Nexen’s local distributor in the UAE, Al Saeedi.
