After 52 years in the tyre industry, including 19 at Yokohama Tire Corporation, Gary Nash is retiring on 31 March. His position as president of Yokohama Tire Mexico (YTMX) has been handed over to Humberto Gomez, who began in the role on 1 January 2018.

Last Friday, friends and colleagues from the industry bade farewell to Ruud Spuijbroek, the “long-time helmsman” of European retreading association BIPAVER and secretary general of Dutch association VACO as he retired from his duties. At a valediction event in the town of Gernsbach, in Germany’s Black Forest, his successor at BIPAVER, Tim van der Rijken, and Hans-Jürgen Drechsler, technical secretary of the European association and managing director of German association BRV, acknowledged one last time Spuijbroek’s contribution to retreading in Europe.

Titz in charge of Goodyear’s expanded Europe Central hub
Jürgen Titz has taken on further responsibilities within Goodyear’s European organisation. In addition to his role as group managing director of Goodyear Dunlop’s DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) organisation, a position held since June 2015, Titz has now taken on responsibility for passenger car tyre sales in the Europe Central region. This recently enlarged sales territory includes the three Benelux markets as well as the DACH countries. This region, or ‘hub’ in Goodyear Dunlop parlance, is a different entity to the Goodyear Dunlop Central Europe cluster, the tyre maker adds.

The Dundee garage sold 38 vehicles through its ‘virtual forecourt’ in the past year, covering vehicles from a range of 11 different manufacturers.

Effective today, Dr Jörg Stratmann is chief executive officer of automotive supplier Mahle. He succeeds Wolf-Henning Scheider, who today becomes chief executive officer of automotive supplier ZF Friedrichshafen. Scheider takes the place of Dr Konstantin Sauer, who’d held the position on a temporary basis since Dr Stefan Sommer stepped down with immediate effect in December 2017.
