Kumho appoints ex-Goodyear duo to European Technical Centre
Matthias Bode was appointed head of Kumho’s European Technical Centre (KETC) in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Germany at the beginning of June. The 50-year-old is responsible for the development of all Kumho products for the European original equipment (OE) and replacement markets.

Thorp will retire after a long career in the tyre industry, including more than thirteen years’ service at Hankook.

Bernard Schäferbarthold’s (48) management contract was extended by five years until 31 October 2024. He will continue as managing director for the corporate Finance, Controlling, and Information Technology divisions in the long term. On the other, Dr Frank Huber (38), the deputy managing director for the Lighting business division, will take over management of the division from CEO Dr Rolf Breidenbach (56) with effect from 1 June 2019.

Honda has confirmed that it will be closing its Swindon plant in 2021. The closure will cause the loss of 3,500 jobs. Honda says that it has reached the conclusion that no viable alternatives to the proposed closure of the Swindon plant have been identified.
