Vaculug employee retires after 48 years with company
Vaculug’s Christine Bartlett retires today, following 48 years’ service. Bartlett joined Vaculug in September 1970 as a lithographic printer, creating and printing all paperwork and price lists both internally and for the company’s 23 depots throughout England. She then moved into the position of stationery buyer, responsible for coordinating internal stationary requirements and liaising with depots.
Survey shows strong loyalty among automotive apprentices
Findings from Drive My Career’s latest Insight revealed that 95 per cent of apprentices would remain with the same company if they received a job offer after their apprenticeship.
B&J Rocket hires Christoph Hurst as key account manager
Christoph Hurst is the new key account manager at B&J Rocket Sales AG. He began in this position on 1 July and is tasked with supporting B&J Rocket’s existing customer base in Germany and parts of Europe. In addition, he will develop new markets for B&J buffing tools in these regions.

40% of Hankook UK workforce now hold long service awards
Hankook Tyre UK Ltd is celebrating the commitment of four valued employees who have reached important 10- and 20-year milestones. All staff were recently invited to a special event to recognise their long-service achievements and share their memories. Almost 40 per cent of the UK workforce is now in receipt of a long service award.
DfT: transport apprenticeships increasingly diverse
The industry-led Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce’s (STAT) Three Year Progress report shows that BAME representation now stands at over a fifth of apprentice intake, representing a 56 per cent proportional increase over the last two years in the share of BAME apprentices in the sector. The figure provides a positive result for STAT, who have exceeded their commitment to improve BAME representation in apprenticeships.
Midas, which has more than 2,100 franchised, licensed and company-owned Midas auto shops in 14 countries (including 1,200 in the US and Canada), recently promoted Will Helton to vice president and general manager. Helton joined Midas two years ago from Bridgestone. Prior to the promotion he was division vice president of the Central US and Canada Regions at Midas. At Bridgestone Helton was Region Manager which was the culmination of 16 years with Bridgestone.
Blackcircles founder Welch nominated for TIA board of directors election
The Tire Industry Association (TIA), which lobbies for tyre safety in the USA, has announced the nominations for the 2019 Board of Directors. Four individuals will be elected to serve on the TIA Board for a three-year term. The voting period will end on Sunday 1 September 2019.
Martin O’Shea has been appointed to the new position of quality test engineer/manager at GX2 Technology Group, the parent company of joint Michelin licensees Wheely-Safe and Fit2Go TPMS.
ZC Rubber hires Phothisane for OTR business in USA
Chan Phothisane has joined ZC Rubber America, Inc. as OTR National Sales Director. In this role, he will oversee the company’s off-highway business in the US market.
Micheldever appoints Mitchell as wholesale director
Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) has appointed Graham Mitchell as its new wholesale director. Mitchell will take over the key strategic role following Alan Baldwin’s retirement, scheduled for November. In a 17-year career in the tyre industry, Mitchell has acquired extensive experience across both UK and European markets. He joins MTS from Cooper Tire, where he held senior management roles that included sales director for UK and Western Europe and UK and Northern Europe sales director.
At the start of May Brembo S.p.A. CEO Andrea Abbati Marescotti announced that he would leave the company effective 30 June 2019 “to pursue new professional projects and activities”.
Fintyre appoints Saccani MD of RS Exclusiv, TyreXpert
European Fintyre Distribution (EfTD) has appointed Francesco Saccani as its new managing director of RS Exclusiv and TyreXpert. He will report directly to Claudio Passerini, CEO of EfTD Germany, and will be responsible for leading the development and growth of the companies in northern Germany. EfTD added that the companies would seek to “enhance synergies” with the rest of the group.
