Michael Haupt, formerly a tyre development specialist at Porsche, has been appointed head of the ‘Premium OE’ business sector at the recently-opened Nexen Central Research Institute (Nexen univerCITY). In his new position, Haupt will be responsible for creating premium tyres for OEM customers.

US lawmakers criticise Goodyear over Mexico factory
A number of US lawmakers have criticized Goodyear Tire & Rubber over its treatment of workers at its San Luis Potosi, Mexico tyre factory in a letter to CEO Richard Kramer. Democratic Representatives Rosa DeLauro, Terri Sewell and Jimmy Gomez signed the letter and complained that their access to the site was limited.

The NTDA has announced the finalists for its 2019 Tyre Industry Awards. The awards, sponsored by tyre manufacturer Sailun, will be presented at the association’s 90th Annual Dinner on Thursday 3 October at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Birmingham. The dinner is sponsored by tyre wholesaler Land Tyre Service, while the awards will be hosted by popular TV comedian Mark Watson. Melett has promoted Darren Johnson to the role of head of sales having previously occupied the position of sales manager.
