Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (Pty) Ltd (SRSA), manufacturer of the Dunlop, Sumitomo and Falken tyre brands for the African continent, has announced the appointment of Lubin Ozoux as its new CEO and Executive Director of SRSA effective 1 January 2021. Ozoux will take over the role from outgoing CEO, Riaz Haffejee who has led the company for the past eight years. Haffejee will remain with the company until the 31 January 2021 to “ensure a smooth transition”.

Piotr Czyzyk has been appointed managing director for Goodyear South Africa. Czyzyk has served Goodyear in a number of roles and markets for the past 17 years, most recently as PBU commercial director in Europe. There Czyzyk was responsible for overseeing the Central Europe operation, garnering keen insights into the global market, consumer behavior, as well as the shifting dynamics of demand and supply.

Trelleborg Group has named Patrik Romberg its new senior vice president of Communications and Human Resources. Romberg, who joined the company in 2006 and has served as senior vice president of Communications since 2011, will initially hold this new position in conjunction with Paolo Astarita, Trelleborg Group’s current senior vice president of Human Resources. Astarita will then transition to an advisory role within the group upon his retirement.

Titan International has begun the search for a new chief accounting officer after incumbent Amy Evans informed the company on Monday of her intention to leave, effective 4 December. Evans will remain chief accounting officer and a vice president of Titan International until this date. David Martin, the company’s chief financial officer, will then fulfil the remit of chief accounting officer until a successor is appointed.

As managing director, Aubel has been responsible for the company’s sales Germany, sales international and Maha Service Center since October 2018. He has been a member of Maha Maschinenbau Haldenwang’s advisory board since December 2017.

Anish K. Taneja has been appointed president of the German Rubber Manufacturers Association (wdk). The chief executive officer of Michelin’s Europe North Region was named successor to Dr Ralf Holschumacher earlier today. Holschumacher has served as wdk president since 2014.

In addition to appointing a managing director for its business in Austria, Michelin has named Albrecht von Leonhardi managing director of Michelin Suisse SA, effective 1 November. He comes to this role from Michelin Solutions, where he was commercial director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a position he’d held since mid-2017.

Michelin has reorganised its sales team in Austria and appointed Roland Steinberger managing director of its business in that market. Steinberger began in the role on 1 November, continuing a tyre industry career spanning more than two decades, including eight years at Michelin. His previous role with the tyre maker was sales manager for its car tyre business within Austria.

Continental AG has appointed Nikolai Setzer (49) as its new executive board chairman until March 2024, effective 1 December 2020. He succeeds Dr. Elmar Degenhart (61), who is stepping down for health reasons, effective 30 November 2020. Setzer is widely seen as a safe pair of hands for the company who has been prepared for the position for years.

Corrado Moglia, general manager in Europe, said the appointments demonstrate how the company is focusing on the development of the brand in Europe. “We have recently added two valuable managers to our European team, Ayhan Haliloglou as OTR technical & sales manager, Europe, and Steve Eke as sales director for the UK & Ireland.”

Following the news that Elmar Degenhart is stepping down as Continental AG chief executive at the end of the month, Nikolai Setzer is being touted as his most likely replacement. On 12 November 2020 Continental AG’s supervisory board is scheduled to meet. Deciding the successor to outgoing CEO Elmar Degenhart will no-doubt be top of the agenda. According to the German Handelsblatt newspaper, Nikolai Setzer has been lined up to take over from the outgoing Conti boss.

The Institute of the Motor Industry’s Annual General Meeting on 27 October 2020 saw the announcement of its new president, Professor Jim Saker, as well as the appointment of two new vice presidents: Linda Jackson (PSA) and Sandy Burgess (SMTA). Kevin Finn and Tony Tomsett were also confirmed as chairman and honorary treasurer respectively.
