Papadimitriou’s contract with Pirelli ends this week
As reported in January, Angelos Papadimitriou is stepping down as general manager and co-chief executive officer of Pirelli. The tyre maker shares that the termination of his contract employment takes effect on 28 February 2021. As already stated, Papadimitriou will maintain the offices of Director on the Board and member of the Strategies Committee. The termination of Papadimitriou contract of employment changes his status to that of non-executive director.

50-year tyre industry stalwart Rob Henderson retired at the end of December 2020. Henderson can look back on an illustrious career in the international tyre market, much of which was spent in management roles with tyre manufacturers and wholesalers. He ends his career following seven years as the general manager in the UK and Europe for China’s Enjoy Tyre, best known for its Rotalla and Routeway brands.

Musical chairs within the Continental Specialty Tires business unit, but nobody was left standing when the music stopped: Wolfgang Thomale, who heads up the entire business unit, has taken on responsibility for the associated Two-Wheel Tires segment. He picked up this additional remit on 1 January, taking over from Thomas Falke. Falke is now in charge of the Commercial Specialty Tires segment, which Thomale had led since last summer.

Pirelli and Angelos Papadimitriou, the tyre maker’s general manager and co-CEO, have agreed to end their working relationship. Pirelli hasn’t specified the date on which Papadimitriou will relinquish these roles, but when he does the duties he performed as general manager and co-CEO will be taken over by Marco Tronchetti Provera, Pirelli’s executive vice chairman and chief executive officer, until a successor is appointed.
