Joe Burke named Goodyear vice president, North America commercial
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co has appointed Joe Burke vice president of its North America Commercial business. He reports to Steve McClellan, president, Goodyear Americas. Burke succeeds Dave Beasley, retiring after nearly 40 years with Goodyear.

In preparation for the company’s 2024 Annual Meeting next April, the Nokian Tyres’ Shareholders Nomination Board has submitted its proposal to the Board of Directors. With two of the nine current board members not available for re-election, it proposes two new members, Elina Björklund and Elisa Markula. Nokian Tyres comments that these nominations “improve the Boards gender diversity,” an aim indicated in a company proposal last year.

At its 106th annual dinner, which took place in London on Tuesday, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) announced that Mick Flanagan would be the associations next President. He will assume office as the SMMT’s 83rd President on 1 January 2024, succeeding Alison Jones, who steps down after completing her two-year tenure.

Starting 9 November, Kuo Lin-Liang, chairman of Nankang Tire, will become chairman of Federal. Chung Cheng-Yen, an executive assistant to the chairman of the Federal, assumes the general manager position.

Richard J. Kramer has informed Goodyear’s board of his plans to retire as chairman, CEO and president of the company in 2024. Goodyear described Kramer’s retirement as “planned” and added that the subject has been “previously discussed with the board as part of the company’s ongoing and active succession planning process”. No successor has been named, but, as part of those plans, “the Goodyear Board retained a leading executive search firm to execute a search considering both internal and external candidates”.

Prometeon Tyre Group UK has appointed Ilke Bor as the new marketing manager for the UK, Eire and Nordics effective from 1 December 2023. Bor will be responsible for the company’s marketing strategy and plans to “continue to build market share and sales for Prometeon’s premium brand tyres across the region”. The development of Prometeon’s SuperTruck network will be a key focus of Bor’s work.
