Toyo has announced three changes of personnel, with a change of leadership at its subsidiary companies Toyo Tire (Zhangjiagang) Co, Ltd and Toyo Tire (Zhucheng) Co, Ltd, which will become effective on 1 November.

Dr Ariane Reinhart (44) assumed her post as Executive Board Member for Human Resources at Continental AG today (1 October), raising the company’s executive board to nine members. The supervisory board of automotive supplier/tyre manufacturer appointed Dr. Reinhart during a meeting on 25 April 2014. Her contract runs for three years.

After 12 years at Bridgestone, John McNaught is to leave the company on 31 October 2014. McNaught, who has 36 years of tyre industry experience, led many of the initiatives that resulted in Bridgestone’s recent growth in this part of Europe during his tenure including significant growth in the company’s truck and bus fleet business and the acquisitions of the Kingsway retail business in 2004 and the Bulldog retreading operation in 2005 (See “Strong growth at Bridgestone UK” in our September 2005 issue for more); not to mention the expansion of the UK office’s oversight into a regional or “zone” headquarters including the Nordic markets (See “Why Bridgestone believes its new European structure takes it closer to the market”, September 2011), to name two examples.

After the Conservative Party joined Labour in pledging increased apprenticeship opportunities, the Institute of the Motor Industry has urged political parties to think carefully about how to improve such positions. Steve Nash, CEO of the IMI which represents the UK retail motor industry, is pleased to hear the latest political party promise about apprenticeships. But he’s concerned that the issue is just becoming one of the items on the list of ‘vote winner’ promises without, necessarily, addressing the challenge of how to attract young people to apprenticeships.

The sales manager of Pirelli’s ‘Car’ wholesale channel in the German market, Reimund Wolfmüller, is leaving the company as of 31 December 2014, reports Pirelli Deutschland GmbH. The company’s intention is to appoint a successor before the end of the year to ensure a smooth changeover. During the transition period, Pirelli Deutschland sales and marketing manager Andreas Penkert will be responsible for the Car sales channel.

Goodyear Dunlop has appointed Edouard Carpentier director of its Consumer Tires business unit in France. The former French market supply chain director replaces Jean-Denis Perche, who began as general manager of Goodyear Dunlop’s Middle East and Africa (MEA) region on 1 August. In their new roles, Carpentier and Perche respectively report to EMEA region sales director Pietro Saletto and vice-president Emerging Markets EMEA Henry Johnson.

Giti Tire is currently looking for a new general manager for the DACH market – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – following the departure of Rainer Harter. The company’s managing director for Europe, Richard Lyons, told Tyres & Accessories that Harter recently “left of his own accord in order to pursue new opportunities.” Harter joined Giti Tire in summer 2013 and held the position of managing director at Giti Tire Deutschland GmbH. Lyons commented that the former Michelin manager “had done a very good job.”

The NTDA has appointed Natasha Pullinger as its new membership administrator. According to the association, Pullinger’s key responsibility will be to support the development of the NTDA by providing day-to-day administrative functions and providing a point of contact and liaison between the NTDA, its members, other tyre industry bodies and key industry stakeholders. She will also provide support to NTDA committees and other industry meetings and engage in the association’s marketing and PR activities.
