Michelin has named Dieter von Aspern head of its new Distribution business area. In the role of director wholesale Europe, the former marketing director for replacement tyres in the DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region will take on responsibility for Michelin’s future wholesale activities. Anish K. Taneja has been named Dieter von Aspern’s successor in the DACH replacement business, and will take up these duties alongside his current commercial vehicle tyre position on 1 May.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has appointed ex Apollo Verdestein European president Luis Ceneviz as its managing director - Latin America Tire Operations effective 1 March 2015. In this new role, Ceneviz will be responsible for the company’s business throughout Latin America, including Central and South America, as well as Mexico, where Cooper has a sales and marketing organization and participates in a joint venture tyre manufacturing operation near Guadalajara. He will report to Brad Hughes, Cooper’s chief operating officer.

Having spent a month with Bridgestone already, Dolan is optimistic about the coming year, expressing his excitement about the company’s potential. He said that he had been impressed by the sales team’s knowledge and professionalism, as well as the Firestone brand’s mid-range proposition. Dolan joins new managing director Robin Shaw at the helm of Bridgestone’s activities in the north Europe region during a period of reorganisation following a number of retirements and departures, including former MD John McNaught.

On 30 January Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has appointed has promoted Brad Hughes into the newly created position of senior vice president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. In this role, Hughes has responsibility for Cooper’s worldwide operations throughout North America, Asia, Europe and Latin America. He has been with the company for five years, beginning in 2009 as chief financial officer. In July 2014, he was appointed to lead the company’s International segment as president—International Tire Operations.

Marcos Oliveira, president and CEO of Iochpe Maxion, has announced the promotion of Pieter Klinkers (44) to the role of CEO of Maxion Wheels, effective 1 March 2015. Klinkers, from the Netherlands, succeeds Fred Bentley in this role at the world’s largest manufacturer of aluminium rims for passenger cars and steel rims for cars and commercial vehicles. While Bentley led the company from the USA (Northville, Michigan), in future Klinkers will execute his duties as CEO from Königswinter, near the former West German capital of Bonn, where he is currently based.

The Institute of the Motor Industry confirmed it will be changing the title of Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA), along with Automotive Management Accreditation (AMA), to IMI Accreditation as part of the IMIs brand overhaul. ATA was first established in 2005 to act as a voluntary licence to practise for the automotive sector and takes the form of practical and knowledge based assessments designed to test the current competence of an individual in their job role.
