Becker to extend Pirelli’s OE business with German car makers
Following more than 25 years as head of original equipment car and truck tyre distribution for Pirelli in Germany, Karl Becker has been placed in charge of the tyre maker’s global original equipment business development department. He reports to Marco Crola, Pirelli’s senior vice-president of original equipment, in his new position and has the goal of continuing Pirelli’s development into “one of the main premium and prestige segment suppliers to globally-renown German vehicle manufacturers.”

Shida to head Bridgestone in Indonesia
Following the appointment of Junichi Kumano as director of Bridgestone Corporation’s Aircraft Tire business division in February, Yoshikazu Shida has been named Kumano’s successor in his previous role of president director of PT. Poor provision of careers advice hampers economic growth – IMI
The warning follows IMI sponsored research from the Industry Apprentice Council (IAC), which showed that 45 per cent of current industry apprentices had received poor or no advice and guidance on their career choice. Meanwhile, less than 10 per cent said a careers advisor or teacher had helped them find out about apprenticeships. There is currently no statutory requirement for young people to have access to face to face careers advice.

Milan Šindelář named Mitas International’s sales director
Mitas a.s. reports that Milan Šindelář took over from Jaroslav Musil as sales director of Mitas International last month following Musil’s decision to retire after a 17-year tenure with Mitas. Shingo Sakashita, 46, has been appointed finance director Falken Tyre Europe, the European affiliate of Japanese tyre manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries. Apollo Tyres launches 2015 Hungary recruitment drive for ‘100s of technicians’
Apollo Tyres has announced details of its recruitment drive in Hungary for its soon to be built Greenfield facility at Gyöngyöshalász. Apollo plans to appoint 100 technicians and fresh graduate engineers soon, with a second drive to recruit a further 150 people in the second half of 2015. Although production will only start at the beginning of 2017, the first batch of employees for the Hungarian factory will be contracted in the beginning of July 2015. Besides technicians and engineers, the company is also seeking applications for various functional areas including administration and logistics.
