Wolf to support Aeolus Tyres’ retail development in D-A-CH
Aeolus Tyres Europe aims to grow within the passenger car, SUV and van tyre segments, and in order to do is appointing managers in various European markets to support the tyre maker’s local partners. The first of these new hires has now been named – Marc Wolf has taken on the role of national retail development manager for Aeolus Tyres Europe’s German-speaking markets. The company says it will report on appointments for other Western European markets “in due course.”

A new sales and marketing director has been appointed to look after Giti Tire’s passenger car and light truck activities in the ‘D-A-CH’ markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As sales and marketing director – PCR, Tobias Stöckmann will work closely with long-term regional partner Reifen Gundlach and other distributors to significantly increase market share for the GT Radial brand, while identifying new sales strategies and customers for Primewell and Runway. Stöckmann and his team are also tasked with maintaining robust market intelligence programmes, further developing retail, promotional and media strategies, and they will also monitor and input into the company’s rolling five-year product development plan.

Two members of the Bridgestone Corporation board are swapping positions. As of 1 August, Kazuhisa Nishigai will take on the role of chief technology officer at Bridgestone Corporation, and with it responsibility for technology within the company. He takes over this role from Narumi Zaitsu. Leadership of Bridgestone’s Japan Tire Business and responsibility for tyre production within Japan will be handed over from Nishigai to Zaitsu at the same time.

Retreading specialist Marangoni intends to integrate the distribution of all product lines within its German operation, and to help achieve this goal Christoph Frost has joined the management of Marangoni Retreading Systems Deutschland GmbH as managing director, sales and marketing D-A-CH. He began in this role on 1 July and as such takes on responsibility for distribution of pre-cure retreading materials in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Frost retains his existing positions as managing director of Wenzel Industrie GmbH and of recently-acquired OTR tyre retreader Recamax Reifen GmbH.

In his new role, Takacs takes responsibility for European pricing, product marketing and distribution channel management. The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) has announced that Brian Madderson has agreed to continue his role as Chairman of the Association, following a meeting with PRA Executive Committee. Madderson comments, “Since 2010, the PRA has retained 90 per cent of the top 50 independent petrol retailers in membership, with sites numbering ing over 3,000. Regional committees have been established in both Northern Ireland and Scotland, and we have formed positive relations with key government officials and politicians in all four home countries.

SD-International (SDI) has appointed Steve Tidmarsh as general manager. Tidmarsh brings over 35 years of experience to the Shanghai-based contract tyre manufacturer. Tidmarsh’s experience includes 25 years at Goodyear Dunlop, culminating as sales and marketing director of both the consumer and commercial sectors. He has also held the position of financial director with Hi-Q Tyre Services as well as six years as managing director of Kumho UK, becoming the first non-South Korean to hold this title.

Dieter Horni is stepping down as managing director of Continental Tyre South Africa (CTSA) after six years in this role, and will return to Continental’s head office in Hannover, Germany to head up the company’s Business Development portfolio for the Middle East and African region. Shaun Uys, who is currently head of marketing and sales for CTSA’s South Africa and Sub-Sahara replacement tyre business, will as of 1 August succeed Horni as managing director.
