Goodyear Dunlop Tires France has announced the appointment of Camille Mounier as marketing director. She joined the company in March 2015 and is tasked with promoting the company’s flagship Goodyear and Dunlop brands, along with Fulda and Sava, in the French consumer and motorcycle tyre markets. She also oversees public relations communication for these brands and the company’s Vulco retail chain.

The chief executive of the independent tyre dealer group positioned to carry the Point S flag in the USA has stepped down. US trade publication Tire Review reports that John Kreidel left Tire Factory due to “strategy differences”. Chief financial officer Walter Lybeck will stand in as interim CEO until the now vacant position can be filled, and Kreidel has agreed to assist Lybeck as needed for the coming three months.

After four years at the helm of Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s Asia Pacific business unit, Daniel L. Smytka has been earmarked for another leadership role within the company. He will be succeeded as president of the Asia Pacific region business by Chris Delaney, who joins Goodyear today. Delaney will assume full responsibility for the business on 1 January 2016; Smytka will work closely with Delaney on the transition before moving to his new position, in which he will report directly to Goodyear chairman and chief executive officer Richard J. Kramer.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber reports that Peter R. Rapin will succeed Thomas Kaczynski as the company’s treasurer. Rapin joins the tyre maker from TRW Automotive (now part of ZF Friedrichshafen AG), where he most recently directed the company’s global treasury, tax, insurance, and pension functions as vice-president treasury and tax. In his new role he will report to Laura K. Thompson, Goodyear’s executive vice-president and chief financial officer.

Starting in September, Continental will introduce a new programme that will train “young people who are passionate about IT” to become automotive software developers. According to Ariane Reinhart, the tyre and automotive systems manufacturer’s Executive Board member in charge of human resources, the training programme will be based in Germany and involve close collaboration between Continental’s various divisions.

Hakan Bayman, CEO of Brisa Bridgestone Sabancı A.Ş since January 2009, has been appointed senior vice-president of Bridgestone’s CIS/Russia, Middle East and Africa (CMA) region. He begins in this position on 1 September, and while he steps down as CEO of the Bridgestone-Sabanci joint venture company he will remain on the Brisa board. Yiğit Gürçay replaces Bayman in the top Brisa job.
