Falken Motorsports introducing latest generation 911 GT3 R

Falken Motorsports will debut the future successor to its well-known Porsche 911 GT3 R at the upcoming Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) race. It will field this latest car, which is based on Porsche’s 992 model, in an eye-catching ‘Erlkönig’ livery.

Hankook becomes Formula E technology partner and tyre supplier

At the end of September Hankook announced that, as of next season, it will be the exclusive technology partner and tyre supplier of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The announcement was made at an event in The Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Austria on 27 September, where Tyres & Accessories was present to witness Hankook being officially presented with the newly developed Hankook iON race tyres.

Funding issue cuts short W Series season

The final three races of this year’s W Series season have been cancelled due to financial reasons, shares organiser W Series Limited. This means the races in the Hankook Tire sponsored, all-female championship that were scheduled to take place at Circuit of The Americas, USA on 21 and 22 October and the double-header at Autódromo Hermanos, Mexico on 28 to 30 October will not go ahead.

Pirelli concludes GT World Challenge Europe season in Spain

The Pirelli-supplied GT World Challenge Europe season came to a close in Spain this weekend. Dinamic Porsche and Alessio Picariello, and Klaus Bachler and Matteo Cairoli claimed victory at the final round of the Endurance Cup at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Pirelli has supplied its new DHF tyre as the GT World Challenge control tyre throughout the 2022 season, having replaced its DHE compound at the start of the year.

Yokohama quitting karting tyre business

Yokohama Rubber has announced it will cease supplying karting tyres at the end of this year. The tyre maker says its management team reached this decision “after careful consideration of various viewpoints” related to restructuring as part of the company’s mid-term management plan.

FCC TSR Honda France wins FIM Endurance World Championship on Bridgestone Tyres

FCC TSR Honda France has won the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme Endurance World Championship (EWC) title on Bridgestone’s Battlax tyres. This is the third time a team supplied by Bridgestone has won the worlds foremost series of endurance motorcycle races since 2018. The second placed Yoshimura Sert Motul ranked second in the EWC series, also on Bridgestone tyres. Bridgestone has supplied grippy, durable Battlax tyres to the EWC since 2017. It says this motorsport deal, alongside its other global motorsport partnerships, embodies its commitment to inspire mobility excitement under Bridgestone’s E8 strategy.

Pirelli Diablo Superbike tyres feature in SBK22 video game

Pirelli’s Diablo Superbike tyres feature in the latest video game based on the FIM Superbike World Championship. Developed by Milestone, the game allows players to choose the tyres to be fitted, modifying the behaviour of the motorbike based on the compound used. The realism of the game was boosted by the involvement of professional riders and experts, including Pirelli itself. The manufacturer supplied tyre data to help the game-maker simulate the performance of real Pirelli World Superbike tyres. Pirelli branding is also seen in-game in the realistically rendered circuits.

Second British speedway title for Flint

NGK-sponsored Speedway riders have continued their fine form with Leon Flint being crowned the new British Under-21 Champion. The Wolverhampton rider triumphed in Birmingham over fellow NGK stablemates Dan Thompson, of Leicester, who was runner-up, and Belle Vue’s Tom Brennan who took fourth place.

Falken victorious in inaugural Nürburgring NLS 12-hour race

Falken Motorsports is revelling in a successful inaugural NLS 12-hour race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, with Joel Eriksson, Sven Müller, Jaxon Evans and Alessio Picariello bringing Falken’s #3 Porsche 911 GT3 R across the line in first place. Teammates Ayhancan Güven, Côme Ledogar, Klaus Bachler and Martin Ragginger finished last weekend’s race sixth in their #4 car.

BitcoinRacing: Nankang Tyre Citycar Cup is a way to increase cryptocurrency take-up

BitcoinRacing was formed with the stated aim speeding up the adoption of Bitcoin as an everyday currency. Writing at the start of the year, company representatives explained that the plan is to achieve that end “by travelling 5000 miles across the UK in 2022 with an HGV transporter decorated in Bitcoin decals and entering four race cars into the Nankang City Car Cup…” That, they continued, will make the team a “mobile advertisement for Bitcoin”.

Audi joins Formula 1

Audi will compete in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with a specially developed power unit from 2026. The project will be based at Audi Sport’s facility in Neuburg near Ingolstadt. This is the first time in more than a decade that a Formula 1 power train will be built in Germany. Audi will announce a decision on which team they will be lining up with in 2026 by the end of this year.

F1 cancels Russian GP – organiser criticises “political” sport

Even though ANO Rosgonki, organiser of the Russian Grand Prix, paid “better than good” to bring Formula 1 to the Sochi Autodrom, Stefano Domenicali stands by the decision to cancel this year’s event and to wipe it from future F1 calendars.

NGK-sponsored Bewley victorious in Cardiff

NGK-sponsored Speedway star Dan Bewley has ended Britain’s fifteen-year wait for a home winner of the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain by powering to victory at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The 23-year-old stormed to his first-ever SGP win ahead of Speedway GP World Championship leader Bartosz Zmarzlik and fellow Polish star Patryk Dudek, with Leon Madsen taking fourth place.

Michelin looks back at 8 years of Formula E innovation

Michelin is parting ways with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship following the 2021/22 season finale. With Hankook limbering up and ready to take over next year, the French tyre maker has looked back on its eight years with the championship, convinced that its work has “made a concrete contribution to the success enjoyed by Formula E today.”
