Bridgestone and motorcycle racing legend Valentino Rossi recently came together near the nine-time world champion’s home in Tavullia, Italy to collaborate on a promotional film that celebrates their winning partnership. The film showcases how both the tyre maker and Valentino ‘share’ a winning DNA, starting out from humble beginnings before going on to become leaders in the world of motorsport. Viewers are taken on a dramatic journey with both Bridgestone and Rossi, integrating historic and current footage that highlights their shared values and joint successes.

For the upcoming second round of the World Superbike Championship at the Aragón circuit in Spain, Pirelli will introduce a new rear tyre for the EVO class of riders. The aim of supplying a separate tyre solution for the EVO class, which was introduced this season and uses Superstock specification engines and electronics, is to reduce the performance gap between EVO bikes and full-spec WSBK machines. Pirelli says it will continue to offer EVO riders different tyres throughout the season, and their specifications may differ from one round to the next.

Tyre strategy was central to one of the most closely fought grands prix in recent history, with a thrilling finale set up by a safety car when there were just ten laps left to go. After the restart, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton led on the medium tyre from his teammate Nico Rosberg, who used a different two-stop strategy to finish the race on the faster soft tyre. Despite having a tyre that was theoretically slower, Hamilton was able to hold off Rosberg – who set the fastest lap – to take back-to-back victories.

This week a new motorcycle championship gets underway for the first time, and Bridgestone will serve as sole tyre supplier for the series. The inaugural season of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup begins in Qatar on 21 March, and over the coming half year it will be followed by rounds in Indonesia, China, Japan, and two rounds in Malaysia. For the first race, Bridgestone will supply its Racing Battlax R03 (front) and R04 (rear) tyres; around 1,500 of the new Racing Battlax V02 (GP3) tyres will be supplied to subsequent rounds.
