Several Guangrao tyre companies have stopped or limited production

Guangrao County in Dongying City seems to have gone silent in a short period. On October 20, Guangrao detected an asymptomatic case of Covid-19. Then things seemed to get serious. Data from the Dongying Municipal Health Commission showed that from the 22 to the 30, new asymptomatic patients of Covid-19 were found in Guangrao daily. The government launched a response policy in a short time. According to Guangrao residents, since the 23, some communities have asked people to stay at home, and some factories require closed-loop management.

Sailun rising: China’s listed tyre companies ranked in 2022 Q3

Based on stock market reporting for the third quarter of 2022, the top nine Chinese listed tyre companies ranked by revenue are Sailun, Linglong, Triangle, Huayi (the holding company of Double Coin), Guizhou Tyre, Sentury, Aeolus, Jiangsu General, and Doublestar. (The leading Chinese tyre company according to Tyrepress global rankings is ZC Rubber (Hangzhou Zhongce), but it is not listed.) The figures show that Sailun has completed a meteoric rise this year to become the Chinese tyre industry’s stock market leader, with an income of more than 6 billion yuan in the quarter, putting it within reach of the global top 10 tyre manufacturers.

Chinese listed tyre companies release third-quarter results

At the end of October, several listed companies, including Linglong, Triangle, Sailun, Aeolus, Jiangsu General, Guizhou Tyre (Advance), Doulestar and Sentury, released their operating results for the third quarter. In the third quarter, Linglong produced 17,015,900 tyres and sold 16,623,600 tyres, with a revenue of about 4.37 billion yuan (about 520 million pounds, 600 million euros) and a net profit of about 110 million yuan (about 13.1 million pounds, 15.22 million euros).

Four tyre companies release September results

Recently, four Taiwanese tyre manufacturers, Cheng Shin, Nankang, Federal and Kenda, successively announced their September results. In September, Cheng Shin’s operating revenue was approximately NT$8.875 billion (about 244 million pounds, 280 million euros), an increase of 13.03 per cent over the same period last year.

China’s tyre exports slowed further in September

On October 24, China Customs announced the export data. In September, China exported 41.37 million new pneumatic rubber tyres, down 19.4 per cent year-on-year. The total weight of these tyres was 580,000 tons, down 1.4 per cent. While the number and weight of tyre exports declined, the export value still increased significantly compared to last year’s period. In September, the export value of Chinese tyres reached 10.14 billion yuan (about 1.24 billion pounds, 1.41 billion euros), an increase of 9.6 per cent.

Sentury and former employee go to court

On September 22, the Qingdao court finally ruled on the “property damage compensation dispute” between Sentury Tire and one of its former employees, Wang. It is reported that the lawsuit had a first-instance judgment in 2021. Subsequently, Sentury filed an appeal. In addition to the “property damage compensation dispute”, the two sides also went to court on the “labour dispute” issue, which completed the first and second instance judgments in 2021.

Linglong signs building contract for Serbia tyre plant

Recently, Linglong Tire signed a cooperation agreement with CCCC First Highway Engineering Group. CCCC First Highway Engineering Group will lead the continuing construction of the Serbian project of Linglong International Europe into the plant’s next phase. The plant produced its first tyre, an Eplus-01 truck and bus radial tyre, on 27 June. It is reported that CCCC First Highway Engineering Group’s main task is to be responsible for the current and subsequent construction projects and to promote the construction progress of Linglong’s European project. The two parties did not disclose the specific cooperation details.

Qingdao has closed more than 30 tyre companies

The Qingdao Municipal Government of Shandong Province recently stated that it would build a rubber industry chain worth 100 billion yuan (RMB). According to reports, the city’s government departments will list rubber products and equipment as the focus of future industries and make every effort to promote these industries’ development.

Land development plan for Federal plant approved

Recently, Taiwanese tyre manufacturer Federal disclosed to the public its recent operations, including land development plans associated with one of its factories. Federal has two factories in Taiwan, located in Chungli and Guanyin, with a total of 535 employees. The tyre maker said the Guanyin plant has an annual capacity of 3 million tyres; the Chungli plant has been suspended due to the implementation of anti-dumping duties by the United States.

Aeolus makes first 63-inch giant OTR tyre

On 11 October, a 59/80R63 radial engineering tyre rolled off the production line at Aeolus’s Jiaozuo manufacturing base. This giant OTR tyre has a diameter of over four metres and a weight of nearly six tons. It is mainly used for giant mining weighing about 400 tons.

£200m Xingda Thailand factory phase II confirmed

On October 3, the Thailand factory of Jiangsu Xingda Steel Tyre Cord Co and Rojana Industrial Park Public Co held a land signing ceremony. It is reported that after seven months of planning, site selection and communication, the steel tyre cord factory finally decided to place Phase II in the Bowin Industrial Park in Chonburi Province, managed by Rojana.

Guangrao government awards six tyre industry companies

On October 8, the Guangrao County Government announced a list of awards that included six tyre industry companies. The awards stem from the fact that this county’s tyre industry was set as one of the advanced cluster industries by Shandong Province in 2020. It is reported that some enterprises in Guangrao County engaged in tyre-related fields can obtain incentive funds.

2022 Asian Tyre Brand rankings revealed

The World Brand Lab has released the list of Asia’s 500 most influential brands in 2022. Tyrepress analysis shows seven brands related to tyres among those ranked, namely: Bridgestone, Hankook, Kumho, Doublestar Linglong, Sailun, and Sumitomo. The Sumitomo brand involves diversified industries, but its subsidiary Sumitomo Rubber is a world-renowned tyre manufacturer.

Cheng Shin Factory punished for exhaust emissions

On 7 September, an administrative penalty decision issued by Xiamen’s environmental protection department showed that Cheng Shin Tire (Xiamen) Co., Ltd was fined 23,857 yuan for an exhaust gas problem.

China’s tyre export growth slowed in August

On 18 September, China Customs announced national export data for August. During the month, China exported 48.23 million sets of new pneumatic rubber tyres, down 8.9 per cent year-on-year. The weight of these tyres was 650,000 tons, an increase of 2.7 per cent. The export value reached 11.4 billion yuan (about 1.4 billion pounds, 1.6 billion euros), an increase of 15.3 per cent.
