According to Andrey Pantyukhov, who until last year headed the Russia and Asia business area for Nokian Tyres, tyres made in the Finnish firm’s former plant in Russia are, technically speaking, “exactly the same” as those produced under Nokian Tyres ownership. Pantyukhov, now chief executive officer of Tatneft-owned business Ikon Tyres, claims “the only difference is the name.”
Production at the Apollo Tyres Ltd. OTR tyre factory in Limda, India has “fully resumed” after being stopped by industrial action, the tyre maker reported on 24 September. Apollo Tyres had announced on 20 September that tyre making at the Limda plant in had stopped due to “certain concerns amongst shop floor employees” relating to the renewal of a long-term settlement agreement.
In its latest joint winter tyre test, motoring association Auto Club Europa (ACE) describes the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 as being “close to the perfect winter tyre,” having displayed “more than rock solid performance” in all test disciplines. This week, battery manufacturer GS Yuasa officially opened its new state-of-the-art facility at Ignition Park, Swindon. Risorce, a Belgian company active in the transportation and trading of end-of-life tyres, has closed a 12.5 million euro round of financing to fund a new end-of-life tyre recycling plant in Liège Province. This facility will utilise the pyrolysis process and have the capacity to process 2.4 million tyres a year, around half the waste car tyres collected in Belgium.

Vietnam’s Binh Phuoc Province shares that the chair of its Provincial People’s Committee issued an investment registration certificate to Chinese tyre maker Shandong Haohua Tire on 11 September 2023. As Tyrepress.com reported in July, Haohua intends to invest US$500 million to build a factory in Vietnam capable of producing 12 million semi-steel radial tyres for cars and other light vehicles and 2.4 million all-steel truck radials a year.
