A second generation of Cosmo Tires passenger car and truck/bus tyres is on its way, and amongst this assortment of new products are tyres that will be launched in European markets. Michelin North America has been ranked America’s best large employer by Forbes magazine. The newest winter tyre from Vredestein will be unveiled at The Tire Cologne later this month. Details about the Vredestein Wintrac Pro are being kept under wraps until its launch on 29 May (4:00pm), however Apollo Vredestein comments that the new addition is position in the ultra-high-performance segment.

The team at automotive refinement specialist Brabus is mourning the death of its founder and chief executive officer, Prof. h.c. Bodo Buschmann, who passed away on 26 April 2018 after a short illness.
Production at the Michelin tyre plant in Ballymena, Northern Ireland came to an end last week. Although the facility won’t officially close until 30 June, The Belfast Telegraph writes that production ended last Wednesday, with the final tyre finished the following day.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber reports that its sales in the first quarter of 2018 were, at US$3.8 billion, four per cent higher than those a year earlier, even though tyre unit volumes were down 2.5 per cent year-on-year to 39 million. Segment operating income was down in the first quarter, however, declining 28 per cent from $390 million a year ago to $281 million. Goodyear says this decrease was driven by the impact of higher raw material costs.

One of the technologies Dunlop race-tested during its engagement in FIM World Motocross Grand Prix Championship (MXGP) last year was an improved tread pattern with tie-bars between shoulder blocks.
