Luxembourg: Goodyear investing in OTR tyre production
A total of US$36 million has been set aside to increase OTR tyre production at the Goodyear plant in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg. The investment will also fund process improvements at the facility.

US tyre industry representative body the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) reports that its Board of Directors has elected four new members. They are: Samuel Choi, chief executive officer and president, Kumho Tires USA; Marco Crola, chairman and chief executive officer, Pirelli Tire North America; Don Bunn, president and chief executive officer, Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc.; and Tom Lehner, vice-president, Government Affairs, Bridgestone Americas, Inc. The appointments take effect immediately, with each new board member serving a three-year term.
The Pirelli tyre plant in Carlisle hosted a royal guest today to mark its 50th year of operation. His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales was welcomed at the plant by Marco Tronchetti Provera, chief executive officer and executive vice-chairman of Pirelli, along with Andrew Mitchell, HM Trade Commissioner for Europe, and Raffaele Trombetta, Italy’s Ambassador to the UK, senior Pirelli management and many employees.
The successor to the Pirelli Angel GT sport touring tyre has arrived. Pirelli says the Angel GT II was designed “with the aim of rewriting the rules of the sport touring segment” thanks to its mileage, handling and grip, especially in the wet. It calls the an “evolution of the Italian brand’s interpretation of the Gran Turismo concept.”
The Conti Urban HA3 is the Continental commercial tyre of choice for city-based usage. The range has now been extended with the introduction of a tyre optimised for the weight requirements and torque delivery of electric city buses.

Denmark-based end of life tyre recycler Genan Holding and Portuguese transport and construction equipment solutions provider Nors have signed a definite agreement for Genan to acquire Nors’ subsidiary, BioSafe – Indústria de Reciclagens, S.A., operator of Portugal’s largest tyre recycling plant. The transaction is expected to close at the end of this month, adding a sixth tyre recycling plant to Genan’s global footprint.

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the new Prinx Chengshan Thailand factory in the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate EISE 3 in Chonburi. The new plant is amongst the first to be set up in the industrial park, and Prinx Chengshan notes that a launching ceremony for the park was held today.
Aluminium wheel manufacturer Superior Industries International, Inc. has appointed a permanent successor to Don Stebbins, who retired as the company’s president and chief executive officer at the end of last year. Majdi B. Abulaban will start in both roles on 15 May 2019, taking over from executive chairman, Timothy McQuay, who assumed all Stebbins’ duties once the latter’s departure was announced.
A ceremony has taken place to mark the start of work on Linglong Tire’s new tyre factory in Serbia. Company chairman and chief executive officer Wang Feng greeted guests at the site of the future plant on 29 and 30 March to launch the new subsidiary, Linglong International Europe D.O.O. Zrenjanin (LLIE), and to hold the tyre maker’s global partner conference.
