GSF Car Parts, Delivery Mates to hit road in electric motorbike fundraiser for BEN

National motor factor GSF Car Parts and final-mile delivery specialists Delivery Mates are partnering for a unique challenge to raise awareness and money for the automotive industry charity BEN. A team of six riders from GSF and Delivery Mates will complete a three-day rally on electric motorbikes, visiting 15 GSF branches along the way. The rally will begin at Midpoint, GSF’s National Distribution Centre in Birmingham, and conclude at its Chester Support Office in the north west.

IMI appoints head of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

As the evolution of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) frameworks continues across the automotive sector, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has appointed experienced EDI advocate, Sally-Anne Hodder as Head of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging. In her previous role as Head of HR & Business Support at the IMI, EDI was a significant focus for Hodder, including being a key stakeholder in the implementation, launch and ongoing development of the IMI’s Diversity Task Force.

UK van market continues to grow in August

The UK new light commercial vehicle (LCV) market grew for the eighth consecutive month in August, rising 5.0 per cent to 16,303 units, according to the latest figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), during what is traditionally a smaller volume month ahead of the September plate change.

Electrification growth boosts new car sales in August

The new car market grew 24.4 per cent in August with 85,657 new vehicles registered, according to the latest SMMT figures. While August is typically a quieter month with many buyers choosing to wait until the September number plate change, an increase of 16,799 units means the sector is now entering a second year of growth. Despite this improved performance, the market still remains -7.5 per cent below pre-pandemic levels. The increase was fuelled by a surge in registrations by large fleets, rising 58.4 per cent to 51,951 units, while business registrations grew 39.4 per cent to 1,635 units. Conversely, private demand softened by -8.1 per cent, compared with a supply-constrained 2022 market.

Motul introduces ‘environmentally friendly’ NGen oils

Global lubricant pioneer, Motul presents the NGen range, which the company says sets new standards for sustainable and resource-saving high-performance engine oils for cars and motorbikes. Motul’s NGen range debuts with three new engine oils, which either consist largely of high-quality regenerated oils (NGen 5 and NGen 7 for motorbikes) or contain a high proportion of raw materials from renewable resources (NGen Hybrid for hybrid cars) and offer performance that matches or even betters other products currently available on the market.

Wheely Safe ‘a wise investment’ – Frank Redman

Wheely-Safe’s intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) has already proved a wise investment at Frank Redman & Sons – saving the firm from two costly and potentially dangerous tyre blow outs. Leeds City Council opens 1st UK solar-powered, all electric Park and Ride site

Leeds City Council has opened the UK’s first solar powered Park and Ride in Stourton, serviced by electric buses that link the Park and Ride to Leeds city centre. Stourton is Leeds’s third Park and Ride site and the first that is powered by solar modules coupled with a battery storage system, with carbon emissions being reduced by approximately 471,000 KGCO2e in 2022.
