Australian firm Recharge Industries, which is backed by US-based financiers Scale Facilitation Partners, has been named as the preferred bidder for Britishvolt. Britishvolt had planned to build a battery gigafactory near Blyth, Northumberland but ran into cashflow problems that became public in the last quarter of 2022.
Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) has received an order for tyre-derived pyrolysis oil, with an estimated value of 4.7 million Swedish krone ($450,000). Enviro hasn’t named the firm behind the order, but has said that it is “the subsidiary of a leading US oil company that submitted an initial order for oil in February of 2022 for production tests”.
America’s Ram 1200 was recently caught undergoing winter testing in Northern Sweden by CarBuzz spy photographers. The website pointed out that the latest edition of the pickup, which is slated for a 2024 introduction, was caught testing with other Stellantis brand vehicles, such as the Fiat Toro. However, the eagle-eyed will have noted that it was shod with Nokian Tyres.

Continental has designed a new service for European truck tyre dealers – the ContiCasingAccount. In short, the system enables dealers to deposit used casings into an account and receive a credit for them. According to the company, the new service has already been successfully tested by 28 dealers in Germany. The program will be now rolled out to all interested European tyre dealers. However, Tyres & Accessories understands that the service won’t operate in the UK where a different system is in place.
Bridgestone has received Science Based Targets (SBT) certification from SBT initiative (SBTi) for its CO2 emissions reduction targets for 2030, which form part of the company’s Sustainability Business Framework that “ensures the link between sustainability activities and business for contributing to carbon neutrality and a circular economy across the entire value chain”. These efforts align with the “Bridgestone E8 Commitment” which is designed to accelerate transformation to a sustainable solutions company.

ATS Euromaster opened a brand-new tyre fitting and service centre in Hull on 1 February 2023. The opening brings ATS Euromaster’s total network size 260 centres. According to the company, the Cleveland Street centre offers “wider scope for commercial vehicle servicing, thanks to its high roof bays”. That enables ATS Euromaster Hull to now provide MOT work for class 4 commercials (motorhomes, ambulances, taxis and vans up to 3000kg) and Class 7 commercials (vans up to 3500kg), particularly high roof versions.

Following the news that the UK Competitions and Market Authority (CMA) has opened an investigation into Yokohama’s acquisition of Trelleborg Wheel Systems (TWS), Trelleborg representatives have clarified that – in their view – “…there are no reasons why this deal should not be approved.”
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened an investigation into the proposed merger of Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd of Trelleborg Wheel Systems Holding AB (TWS). Writing in a statement published on 31 January, CMA officials stated that “pursuant to section 96(2A) of the Act that the merger notice provided by Yokohama [and TWS]…” meets “the requirements of section 96(2) of the [relevant] Act.” In other words, the CMA investigation is a formality for a merger of this kind.
French car parking business Saemes is partnersing with Speedy (the French, Bridgestone-owned tyre and fast-fit operation) and “additional partners” to offer “maintenance of all types of vehicles within its car park”.
