Monro rolls Amazon tyre fitment across all stores
In the USA, largescale garage chain Monro Inc. has completed the rollout of its collaboration with Amazon.com to provide tyre installation services at all of its 1,200+ store locations in 32 states.

Linglong Tire signed a cooperation agreement with the Jinan Municipal People’s Government on 17 July 2020. As a result, Linglong Tire will settle its research and development and technological innovation base in the central district of Jinan. According to the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in terms of science and technology as well as personnel matters. The relevant leaders of Jinan and Linglong’s chairman and president Wang Feng attended the signing ceremony.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is encouraging motorists to get their delayed MOT test done this summer ahead of a surge in demand in the Autumn. The projections, based on due dates and vehicle MOT expiry dates, show that demand for MOTs will be at around 3.4 million in September, 4.8 million in October and November and 4.2 million in December. This demand is predicted to be around double the normal volumes (approx. 2.5 million per month). However, August demand is predicted to be just over 2 million MOTs, which is fewer than usual.
With the UK and many other European countries having experienced three months of lockdown, most sources are predicting full-year 2020 car tyre sales declines of around 25 per cent. The most optimistic appear to be suggesting 10 per cent drop, but how likely is a 90 per cent recovery by the end of the year? The good news is that there are reasons to suggest the post-lockdown tyre market is on the road to recovery.

During the last few months Tyres & Accessories has analysed the tyre choices of the UK’s largest Police fleets. Having begun with an introductory investigation into Police tyre supply as part of the June 2020 magazine, our July edition took a closer look at which tyres the Metropolitan Police fleet chooses. Throughout the series we have found a number of consistent trends. Cooper Tire Europe is supplying tyres to 4×4 tuner Brute Jeeps. Cooper will provide Brute, which focuses on creating exclusive customised editions of the Jeep Wrangler, with “professional off-road tyres”.
Triangle Tire USA has named Brad Wurst as senior development engineer of A3T, the company’s technical centre in Akron, Ohio. Wurst joins Triangle from Smithers where he has worked since March 2018. Prior to Smithers, Wurst spent more than seven years with Cooper Tire & Rubber, including a one-year assignment as a truck tyre development engineer at the company’s facility in Shanghai, China. Before that Wurst was spent 20 years with Bridgestone Americas.
Cosmo Tires, Tire Group International’s (TGI) oldest private label, has launched what it describes as “a premium mud tyre that is all about functional design”. The Cosmo Mud Kicker features a patented shoulder and bead area design designed to “raise the bar in off-road performance.” In addition, TGI reports that the tyre features an industry first reinforced bead area that provides grip features for added traction surface in deep mud or snow.
Künz, an original equipment manufacturer of machinery including the rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTG) used in ports, is fitting Continental’s CraneMaster tyres to its new Freerider RTG.
