Korea and Serbia negotiating trade partnership
Korea’s Minister for Trade, Inkyo Cheon,g and Serbia’s Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade, Tomislav Momirović, have jointly launched negotiations for a Korea-Serbia Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) in Seoul, announcing Korea’s first trade negotiations with a Balkan country. In conjunction with the launch of negotiations, MOTIE also held a business conference with Korean companies operating in the Serbian market.

>300 Hercules Terra Trac tyres recalled
In the USA, 332 Goodyear-produced Hercules Terra Trac AT X-Venture tyres are being recalled due to a sidewall marking error. According to documents filed with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the tyres in question feature a “Tire Identification Number (TIN)…missing the required date code (week and year code).”

UN briefing calls for further tyre particulate research and legislation
On 24 August the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) published a foresight brief on the subject of “Vehicle Tyre particles in the environment”. Written by a panel of academics and researchers – namely Reto Gieré, University of Pennsylvania; Jaydee Edwards, University of Pennsylvania; Volker Dietrich, German Meteorological Service; Radek Stoček, Polymer Research Lab and Tomáš Bata University, Zlín; as well as Gert Heinrich, Dresden University of Technology, Dresden, Germany – the briefing basically called for more work on the part of road, automotive and tyre industry stakeholders and ultimately better policy-based controls from governments.

Burnt Mills Tyres celebrates 30th anniversary with first fully electric vans
Norfolk Truck and Van recently supplied three new Renault Trucks E-Tech Master L2H2 panel vans to help Burnt Mills Tyres provide on-site and roadside tyre fitting services. The new vans will clock up between 50 and 100 miles a day, with local trips in and out of the depot in Basildon, Essex where the vehicles will also be charged.

Michelin: RH Claydon stockholding will ‘enhance and strengthen our existing distribution strategy’
Commenting on the news that RH Claydon will hold stocks of Michelin agricultural and industrial tyres, Mark White, Michelin’s National Sales Manager UK & Ireland – Beyond Road, said the stockholding will “…enhance and strengthen our existing distribution strategy”, adding that Michelin is introducing a stockholding into R. H. Claydon to “complement and support” the services offered by our Michelin Exelagri dealers:

Earlier this year Magna Tyres introduced five additions to its product lineup. Expanding the MB800 Series range, in June Magna Tyres introduced the new MB800 in a larger size: 355/65-15. ZC Rubber and DSV agree 10-year partnership extension
ZC Rubber has extended its strategic partnership with logistics firm DSV. The new agreement extends their successful collaboration by 10 years. DSV A/S, the parent company of DSV Road Holding NV employs over 60,000 people across 90 countries. Recently, DSV outbid several competitors to acquire DB Schenker, the logistics subsidiary of German state-owned railway operator Deutsche Bahn, for approximately 14.3 billion euros. This acquisition marks a significant expansion for DSV in the logistics sector, positioning it to become the world’s largest freight operator.

R H Claydon now stocking Michelin agricultural and industrial tyres
On 24 September 2024, RH Claydon announced that the well-known wholesaler has been appointed as amn official wholesaler of Michelin agricultural and industrial products, supporting its network of accredited Michelin Exelagri dealers. According RH Claydon representatives, the partnership will allow RH Claydon to stock “a comprehensive range of Michelin farming tyres” across the firms “eight strategically located warehouses throughout the UK, enhancing Michelin’s wholesale coverage across England, Scotland, and Wales.”
