The manufacturer, Westlake and one of its global distributors, the Al Dobowi Group have launched the new Westlake Wishes foundation. Ge Guorong, the CEO of Westlake, was joined by Al Dobowi’s Harjeev Kandhari and 30 European Westlake distributor partners as the foundation’s first initiative was announced.
Pirelli’s ‘perfect fit’ promotion, run through Facebook, has come to an end, with its five winners enjoying an all-expenses paid weekend getaway. The six week promotion offered Pirelli Facebook fans five weekend packages, including the use of popular car models such as a Range Rover Evoque or the new Mercedes A-Class, both of which use Pirelli tyres as original equipment.

Bridgestone key accounts manager Peter Dickson will run the New York marathon this weekend, hoping to raise more than £500 for the Action Medical Research charity. The run will have been three years in the making for Dickson, having originally applied in 2010.

Bridgestone will launch a new motocross tyre and announce an exclusive partnership with a historic motocross organisation at the International Dirt Bike Show. The world’s biggest tyre manufacturer says the sport represents one of the fastest growing motorbike tyre sectors in the UK, as well as offering significant brand awareness and sales opportunities. An official announcement is being made at the hugely popular annual show at Stoneleigh Park, which takes place between 31 October and 3 November.
Goodyear has announced a new partnership with RED Driving School, through which the tyre manufacturer will disseminate safety information to learner drivers via a new website and social media campaigns. The new collaboration will run alongside Goodyear’s existing national driving academy initiative in UK schools.
Michelin has won a tyre supply deal for the Teesport based Containerships fleet. With 60 6×2 mid-lifts, fleet engineer Gordon Aitchison says the results of a recent 1,000km trial have helped to identify significant annual cost differences of more than 20 per cent between four different 295/80R22.5 premium brand tyres.
Jorge Lorenzo’s victory at the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi means the Yamaha Factory Racing rider has set up an intriguing final round in Valencia, where the championship leader, Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez will seek to fend off Lorenzo’s challenge. Marquez finished second in Japan, limiting the extent to which Lorenzo could close the gap at the top; a similar finish in the last of three rounds held in both riders’ home nation would present Marquez with the title. Shinichi Yamashita, general manager of MotoGP supplier Bridgestone’s Motorsport Tyre Development Department, said he was happy with the performance of the manufacturer’s softer allocation this year, despite the lack of time to practice due to rain.
Pirelli may have brought two slick compounds to India, but with the medium compound P Zero White performing far better than the soft P Zero Yellow, the Formula One tyre supplier was quick to suggest that getting the required stint on the latter briefly and early in the race was the quickest way to navigate the Buddh International Circuit. The race winner, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel followed this advice and was duly crowned winner of both the grand prix and F1 Drivers’ Championship, making him the youngest ever four-time world champion.

The NBA Global Games’ visit to Taiwan gave tyre manufacturer Kenda the ideal opportunity to meet up with the franchise it sponsors, Houston Rockets, and its star player Jeremy Lin. Kenda officials were invited to a private meet and greet with Lin, who entertained guests by sharing some childhood memories of Taiwan, at Taipei’s Okura Prestige Hotel.
Bridgestone is supporting the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup as it launches this weekend with the women’s and men’s Giant Slalom in Sölden, Austria. The tyre manufacturer is now a major event sponsor at 39 World Cup Alpine Ski events, including this weekend’s opening races. This is Bridgestone’s third consecutive season of close association with the pinnacle of alpine sport, and the company will continue as a major sponsor of skiing until at least 2016, having signed a three year extension to its current deal.

Representing the pinnacle of Bridgestone’s expertise in tread and compound technology, the Blizzak LM-32 performed extremely well in the latest independent tests, earning the label of “highly recommended” from Autozeitung and ends 4th out of 50 tyres in AutoBild.
Battery supplier Manbat has supported three consecutive events in Telford, Birmingham and Paris. “Despite the complication of the timing of the events, two of which ran simultaneously, I’m delighted to say that all three exhibitions were a great success,” said marketing manager Myles Pemberton.
