Halfords Autocentres has launched a monthly payment scheme designed to help motorists spread the cost of their MOT and annual service. Drivers using the Privilege Service Plan will pay a fixed monthly sum, with two and three year options available, to include a full or major service and MOT for each year. Halfords will determine the monthly cost through a combination of vehicle engine size and the length of plan chosen. The service provider has also added extra incentives to the plan, including 10 per cent off repairs during the term and discounts on products such as wheel alignment, battery replacement and air conditioning services.
Tyre brand Dmack achieved the most successful motorsport weekend of its short history in July. The firm’s gravel tyres, manufactured by Shandong Yongtai, helped secure victory at a number of high-profile international championships. Drive DMACK World Rally Team crew Ott Tänak and Raigo Molder won an emphatic and popular home victory at Rally Estonia – a round of the FIA European Rally Championship. Tänak has hit a run of good form for the Drive DMACK team, having previously claimed 25 WRC2 points in Poland.
Kiara Fontanesi prevailed in the closest and most competitive FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX) for several seasons. The championship was claimed at Loket in the Czech Republic, with Fontanesi winning the first moto and finishing third in race two on her Yamaha, fitted with tyre supplier, Dunlop’s Geomax MX32 front and MX52.
Dunlop Motorsport has used the Moto 2 and 3 mid-season break to examine the changes brought about by its 2014 tyre philosophy. The manufacturer’s 2013 rubber provided more opportunities for riders to make choices about the tyres that suited them best at a particular circuit, Dunlop’s tyre selections this year have led to very little variation in the top riders’ decisions. Clinton Howe, Dunlop’s operations manager, Motorcycle Grand Prix, explains that the manufacturer has been able to develop tyres that are harder – and therefore last longer – and more versatile without compromising on pace.
Dunlop Motorsport has added its first temperature-controlled trailers fitted with Carrier Transicold Vector 1550 units to its fleet to preserve the integrity of its racing tyres whilst in transit. Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold UK, helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers.
Tyre supplier Dmack says the upcoming Neste Oil Rally Finland is set to be the highlight of the Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy season. The 12 crews will travel to the spiritual home of rallying with Sander Pärn leading the series, having scored a dominant two-wheel drive win on his home event of Rally Estonia.

Slough based City 1st is introducing Cameo and UniSerV from CAM across its four truck depots. The commercial tyre specialist wanted to go paperless and install an intuitive system to help its team of fitters to transition to a mobile system. The company states that it reviewed the options and gained feedback from other users before deciding to adopt CAM’s technologies.

The Dexel Tyre Group’s integration of CAM’s UniSerV application suite has gone live. The system is designed to help the commercial tyre supplier to increase job sheet processing efficiency. The system also provides a smoother transactional solution with tablet technology utilised for commercial jobs and breakdowns.
Home counties independent tyre dealer, Watling Tyres has signed up to CAM’s UniSerV application suite. The platform will assist the retailer, which is primarily focused on commercial business, in streamlining job sheet processing, saving considerable admin time and cost, and professionalising its operation further.

Tyre wholesaler Bond International has increased its direct involvement with the online tyre retail website Tyre Giant (tyregiant.com). Launched in September 2011, Tyre Giant was supplied by Bond from its inception, while the running of the operation was subcontracted to another retailer. Now, Bond has entered into a joint venture with digital marketing company Colewood Internet named Boco Tyres, which has taken over Tyre Giant operations, as well as those of Asda Tyres, the online tyre retail portal of the Big Four supermarket operated using Tyre Giant’s retail system. Boco Tyres has signalled its intentions to grow the online retailer’s penetration with a new price-match guarantee and a plan to grow the network of dealers within the Tyre Giant network.
